I'm sorry you feel that way about him, and he and I maybe had our differences some time ago but got past it.Teleman wrote:Mike....really!!!!!!!! I really don't get any hint of jealousy out of him to tell you the truth. Dislike of Ron... yeah. Dislike of you being bigoted, yeah I see that.
Teleman I have no problem with how you ski. I have no problem with how Ron skis. The only thing I have a problem with is when you two tell other people how they should ski, what won't work, or why they are not as good as you. You're welcome to share your opinions, and you are welcome to do so even if they don't coincide with what other people think, but don't tell them that your friend can do something and they can't. Don't you see how that comes across as arrogant and hypocritical? Ron does the exact same thing. How many times have I heard him going on about CIMA or that picture of Johnny with his hands up high. How many times have we seen Teleking looking just like that in the pictures you post?
I wasn't around but I know you guys used to take a beating on the old forums. I could tell when I first started into this whole debacle. I can see how you might be a little defensive but can't you see we're on your side? We're doing the same stuff, just a little different?
You shouldn't get so fired about all the 'quacking' about tech and such. Some people value the info. If you don't, well don't read it. You may have learned everything you wanted to by 1970 but not all of us have.
I'm sorry about Ron and TEast, but you knew it was coming. There's no reason people can't have a viewpoint counter to his and not get bashed and bullied. And he insulted a mod. C'mon. You can insult me and I won't ban you, but they are different there.
Re: Vector BC eludes my thinking
Bruce I'm arguing with you on so many damn threads I can't keep it straight, but I have to add something to the one above.
The reason I don't just outright ban you if you get on my bad side is I have quite a lot of respect for the guy who pays for this forum. You guys may not see it, but he's a good guy and he kept this place going for the right reasons.
He'll probably be pissed at me for saying this, but I asked him what got him into XCD. He told me it was the pictures of the KTB. Said the old forums were all NTN and active this and that but he probably saw 'the King' with hands held high, arcing through some woods not so different than his own and decided to buy some leather boots and XC skis.
Remember, you have a lot of power to influence people you don't even know. Use it wisely.
Now I also know exactly what you are going to say in response to it being a picture and not words that influenced someone. You can't compensate for someones bad behavior with a picture, no matter how many views it may get. Ron really did this forum a great disservice since Johnny took over until he was banned and it wasn't fair to the guy keeping the lights on. We can argue about this until the cows come home, but it was put to a vote, and those who wished to voice their opinion said he was wrong.

Re: Vector BC eludes my thinking
I'll just say that as a newcomer here: posts like those on this thread by Teleman would drive me away from this forum pretty quickly - which would be a shame - I like it here and have learned a tonne. Thank you. Most probably come here to learn and share a bit with people with similar (but not identical) interests, preferences, and experiences, not put up with BS or be belittled or bullied. Why bother? Its just skiing.

Well we certainly don't want to drive people away but there has to be some balance.
The goal of this place is first and foremost to share information. Information in the form of words, pictures, videos, graphs, etc...
Secondly, a forum is place to debate opinions. If it wasn't, it'd just be a blog. And while there is nothing wrong with that, it's not a singular point of view, it's multiple. Herein lies the problem. How do we share ideas and opinions without all getting into raging fights with each other? It's not that easy. Obviously some people may feel wronged by certain things or some may feel attacked. Other may see this behavior and leave fearing they may be the next target. Others will engage and make the problem perhaps worse.
My humble point of view on this is to be yourself the best you can. If someone says something that really bothers you, do what you might normally do, either ignore it or challenge it. If both parties choose to challenge and it escalates, I'll likely politely ask you to stop. If it keeps up, then we may have some issues. No one wants to ban anyone from anything. It's a horrible thing. But also people need to feel like they won't be bullied. it's a fine line between having strong opinions and being a bully. I'm not always so clear on it. I think maybe the key is showing some respect. If you have a little spat with someone and you realize you might have been wrong, say so. A little humility goes a long way. If you said something and it offended someone and they said so. Apologize. Wouldn't you do that in real life?
Sometimes you might write something and not realize you've offended someone. It happens. You might have been a little heated in your opinion and they might be a little sensitive to how you conveyed it. If they seem like they're offended, they probably are. Say something.
Nobody wins anything here. It's not a contest and no one gets a prize for being right. It's nice to be right, no one can deny, but it isn't everything. Perhaps think if someone thanks you for something a greater prize than winning a debate.
Another fine line is humor. Feel people out a bit before you joke with them. Do you go up to strangers and poke at them? No. Not normally. Maybe if you are a drunk frat boy, but respectful people generally don't do this. You have to be especially careful if you are debating some idea. If you get too snarky they may take that as an attack and turn it back on you.
It's supposed to be funny. And serious. Like the Knights. When it pertains to relevant information, take it serious. When it's in regards to personal stuff, try to be less serious. All our lives will be easier.

SKI OFF!!!
I want to see this. I'll design the course, obstacles, and timing rules (penalties). You guys do the SKI OFF!!! and I'll judge. Then, we all get beers and chill out.

Get real Mike.....Conn-dumb has been hurling jabs for over a year....Just time to pay him back....You blame Ron for his demise here...Uhhh seem to remember your hand in that as in 50-50....Saint Mike doesn't cut it....Doesn't mean you can't change but.....Remember LJ way back and I liked his attitude....What happened between you Ron and Lj is your thing.....I'm not part of that....We all walk our own paths.....And, doh, I actually liked the pictures of lj with his umbrella and the long extended poles....We use those poles because they work....The up!!!! Get it?.....Also they almost never break unlike extender's which we have broken.... every set.....Why do we break equipment....Uh....cause we ski....and it ain't in the flats.....Telemark ski racing is funny....Telemark was never a part of people racing on downhill equipment at a downhill area on a downhill course.......doing a modified parallel....Gawd....It's about getting out into the gonz feeling nature.....and I hear sleet hitting the east windows....Gonna have to hit it before we get swamped by rain.....Remember Mike....It's about the skier not the equipment or so says TELEKING....All hail!!!!!! TM

Let's skip the first part and just do the second part (beers and chill).Woodserson wrote:SKI OFF!!!

Was out on Vector BCs/Excursions yesterday with friends on V6 BCs/3-pins/Excursions Rossi BC125/Excursions for several hours hitting one of the best "bowls" accessible from the property. During the summer it's a 300 foot vertical cliff and a jumble of rock and trees but the deep snow and wind fill it in real nice around this time of the season. The approach was up a stream bed with ancient white cedars for a few miles and then skin up the bowl for several laps. The snow had finally firmed up and made for some great turns, jumps, banks, etc. Could not imagine skiing (touring or turns) on my more XC-oriented gear in that situation: very deep and very steep and off the charts fun.
Re: Vector BC eludes my thinking
Came home this morning from a five inch powder storm with a moderate freezing rain crust ready to do battle...Flexed my gnarled up fingers....slapped myself up side the head.....Turned the electronics on.....How could you do this Conn?.....Enjoyed the ride.....Damn....disarmed...Thanks Conn.....TM

Re: Vector BC eludes my thinking
So, the point I'm getting at is would a Voile have something if they designed a kicker-skin system like Fischer and Asnes but on the Vector (non-BC) so that we could use blue wax on nice cold days and kicker skins (mimicking scales) on transition days and then have nice long low angle descents without the grab. I think that's where I was going with that, as well as... if I was to get a Vector which one would it be.
