Length for old e99s

I've heard the Fischer e99's changed in stiffness over the years, so I'm unsure if a 215cm ski is too stiff for me being 155lbs with usually a 10lbs pack and sometimes more. I found a good deal on some and want a fast ski for lakes and denser snow, but I don't want to be disappointed that I'm slipping backwards unable to get the wax pocket down.

Maybe someone recognizes this particular model? Thanks.

I skied some Fischer 215s that were probably stiffer than e99s when I weighed between 150 and 155lb 20 years ago. I didn't have any issue engaging them.

I have those same skis with black sidewalls. 2 pair actually 195s and 215s. there like a camber and a half and grip and turn pretty easy for a long ski. They wax nice and are fast in the track. Love the edges for bush sking.

So I got these and tried them out. Man they're freakin' heavy! I'll try them again, but I think I'm gonna have to get rid of these. I know 215 is a long ski anyways, but they seem heavy even for that length. Should I remount the bindings at the balance point instead of behind?

these should be mounted at balance point - how far back are they? they probably feel front-heavy

Theyre about an inch behind the balance point. I don't know much but that doesn't seem like a lot.

You know how to measure chord length right? Just tip to tail in a straight line.

Then divide by two and go that length from the tail. That's chord center. Where are they relative to that?

I don't know much either! Nordic racers sometimes mount behind balance point, but for all-around XC use balance point is the standard, definitely for touring skis. One inch back won't do that much, but if they feel heavy that would be a place to start. The tip will want to nosedive down when you lift your feet.

Chord center will be slightly ahead of BP. This is good for flatter-camber skis. Last year I tried mounting about 1.5 inches ahead of BP on my E99's and it felt horrible. I had them re-mounted. I think with high-camber skis you don't want to venture off the BP. It moves your foot off the center of the camber and messes things up (very technical terminology here).
