WTB Karhu 10th Mountain/Madshus Epoch/Fischer S-Bound 98
I have found my xcd gts to sink too much in the deeper snow and am looking for something similar but wider.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: WTB Karhu 10th Mountain or Guides (or similar)
Have you had any luck finding some Karhu 10th Mountains? I have finally been able to register and was going to post my own WTB 10th Mountains but there didn't seem much point with your post unanswered.
What length are you looking for? I think I will need 195s with my weight in lbs not too much lower than that length in cms.
You probably know that that the Madshus Epochs could serve you equally well. I myself am a little hung up on the "10th Mountain" mystique, so am still looking.

Hey Al,
Not much luck so far. I have found some epoch/10th mountains in 165cm but I also think I need at least 185cm being 150lbs and gaining weight. Yeah, I don't really care what the name is on it - I figure they are the same thing.

hmm - 185cm for 150lbs. No. Not for a ski as wide as an Epoch. How tall? You might be OK with a 175.

While you're here, can I get your opinion on Epoch length and my weight of roughly 185 lbs? The guidelines suggest the 195cm model, though I'd love it if I could make 185cm work. Thanks!
Re: WTB Karhu 10th Mountain/Madshus Epoch/Fischer S-Bound 98
I think they all work, of course I'd feel weird on a 165cm ski. Mine are 185s although my wife skis them more than me. I'm 5'10" and 210lbs - you won't sink much more and you won't get a ton of glide with these anyway.
If you are really concerned and want a shorter ski for downhill, I'd say use the Annum in a 185cm. If you want the most float and xc performance then go as long as you can.

Been looking for the same thing for it seems forever, people seem to hang on to these. I noticed the Fischer 98 has the exact dimensions as the older Tua Mitos in my basement so I just ironed some wax into them to try out today. I love my Outtabounds but want just a little more width and it seems today's XCDs are pretty similar to yesterday's "mid-fat". If there was a way for the less tool savy among us to put a pattern into those oldies they might find a new life in the meadows and hills....but I digress, hope you find a good pair!

It says 185 is recommended for my weight. I'm 5'11", 150lbs and gaining. Will probably end up around 170lbs next year Touring with a 30-45lbs pack. That puts me at a projected 180-200lbs

I'm 5'10" 170+-lbs. without my boots and gear. My Outtas are 179 and are perfect for me with Excursions and pins because of my love for very tight trees. Yet I've read a lot of bad reviews from people who didn't like the camber, thought they were too stiff, etc. I'm guessing I haven't had those bad experiences maybe because I'm 1 size down from "recommended". My single camber skis are 185s though..
