The Fifty First State

This is the place to debate politics, global warming, and yes, even the origin of man, whatever. Simply put, if you want to argue about off topic stuff, you've found the right board. Have fun!

Yep, the wife and I will be at the nationwide protest tomorrow. We protested what the government was doing in 1970 and it was successful. We protested the govt in 1980 and won. Looking forward to traveling to Washington DC for the big one this summer.

Nice little country you have there. So are you happy with the way your government is handling the trade war?

Hard no. Not happy with what ANY government is doing. Tariffs are taxes. Reciprocal tariffs are taxes. All I see is the state jacking up the cost of living. Getting the absolute most out of our blood and sweat. Redistribution of wealth. They took the covid model and gave it a twist.

I would like to see Canada simply move on from the American partnership. But they fucked up, they made laws against building pipelines. We capped our production. We alienated foreign markets by saying there was "no business case" for exports

So you're an anarchist* , eh?. Bold move. So why do you care what any govt does?

*
Anarchism is a political philosophy and movement that seeks to abolish all institutions that perpetuate authority, coercion, or hierarchy, primarily targeting the state and capitalism.

No. that's your own mental gymnastics taking my words out of context I said nothing about anarchism. Not even close. I was clearly talking in the context of the trade war. Not wanting to be financially penalized because of a political dick waving contest is NOT amarchism. Fuck sakes. Can't believe i have to explain shit, it's like talking to a toddler

Insulting me is so you and so weak. Nice try.

Tell me what form of governing would you label yourself as believing in? Free Love Hippy, Liberal democrat, conservative democrat, Tsarist, Communist, Supremacist, Fascist, no rules anarchist, Canadian Sovereign citizen?

Or is pissing and moaning your strong suit? Lots of people like that , it's a big club.

Hey Mr. Wooley, I’ve met LHartley and can assure you he’s no Anarchicist type…heck, if I convince him to move to BC some day I could almost see him running around hugging the occasional tree (although I think getting him barefoot might be a bit of a stretch).

In my admittedly simple opinion your sitting President and his Cronies are the embodiment of Anarchy when I read over the definition of Anarchism you provided. Gonna be a long time before the USA is trusted again.

Something I’m seeing thats come out of the 51st State B.S. and the Tariff roller coaster is a somewhat increased sense of Nationalism on this side of the border. I kinda hope that your President continues on the path he’s started, my feeling that Canada is starting to explore a sense of unity that’s been lacking (thats simply my small town perspective).

I’ve enjoyed spending time in the USA and like the areas and folks I’ve encountered but at this point in time my time and $$$ (as much as possible) stay in Canada and an anticipated trip to Europe. Between the CDN/USD exchange rate, the inflated prices I’ve been observing across the line, and the unpredictability of what your Prez is pulling going Stateside is no longer appealing.

Ummm you called me an anarchistt, expect a rebuttal. I'm a good citizen and contribute to society. Tribalism is dumb, I'm a libertarian at heart, but society cannot function like that BECAUSE OF LAME ASS TRIBALISM. My politics are leave me the hell alone and let me hoard 40 year old ski boots

The ironic part is that Yankess can scream at the sky for 10 years over Donald Trump but when a Canadian complains about the the American Government, it's "pissing and moaning". Colonizer type ish
