Scarpa T4 shoelaces

Got myself some T4s to replace Garmont Excursions. They are pretty comparable, but one difference is that the inner boot has laces rather than a velcro strap. Maybe this allows for a tighter/better fit... I can't tell about that, but it is a little bit of an extra nuisance to have to tie them up. And, the laces are made with cordage than will not hold a knot! No matter how tight you pull it, you'll have dangling laces before long. After a few weeks of complaining, I figured out that the easiest remedy is to tie the knot, then push the bow and ends down the front of the boot before fastening the plastic shell. Run the top strap of the shell over the whole mess and then cinch it down, and it holds everything firm. Maybe this is standard practice for most folks, but I just finally worked it out on my own.
Otherwise, pretty content with these boots. They bruise a point at the front of my ankle, vs the Excursions that rubbed a point on the side...pretty much equally annoying, but manageable in both cases with bits of padding, tape, whatnot. Guess I'm lucky to find 75mm boots at all, but I still think there should be better boots out there somewhere, burly enough for a bit of turning, but light and comfortable for extended kick and glide touring.

I bought a pair of these at the start of the season. I just removed the laces and they ski fine without.

I remove the laces on all my plastic boot liners. On my T4s I also removed the metal eyelets for the laces to help with the ankle pain.

I never had an issue with the laces, just tied them and left them inside the shells. I damaged the stock liners and replace the stock liners with an Intuition Logan Liner. That is even more comfortable

Those laces make good cat toys.

Huh...
Never had any trouble with the laces in the T4...
Forgive if you have already tried this-
1) surgeon knot at the top- followed by double reef knot (this has been enough for me).
2) If that is still not snug enough- try adding surgeon knot(s) at various locations through the laces- ending with a surgeon knot at the top- finished with a double reef knot.
Could be possible that I have a different generation liner than you and my laces are "better"?
Another thing would be to try a different type of lace.

66% of the responders to this thread just remove the laces, which is the easiest option. For you guys that tie them, what benefit do you get? I haven't found any.

It seemed to me that securing the liner with laces would prevent movement of the liner that might cause discomfort. I’ve always been comfortable so I continue to tie the laces. I also secure the laces with my Intuition Luxery liner on my F-1 Races.
It works for me, so I will continue in this manner

I found the laces on the original Terminator inners to work well and used them. My original TX no-lace liners have also worked fine for me. My friend uses a liner corset lacer to avoid blisters with his no-lace liners.
Just try with and without laces and select what works for you. If you get blisters, try lacing them up.
