For me personally, it defeats the reason for buying the Xplore in the first place. Cable bindings are plentiful, cheap and many of them are very good. At this point I'd just assume but a voile 3 pin cable. I am interested in the Xplore to see if It can replace the 3 pin/3 pin cable, not become one. With that said I bet this would ski awesome and it is a really awesome idea. I'm surprised no one has done it yet!

Interesting. What binding plate sitting under the Xplore toe piece was the sacrificial lamb? It somehow looks familiar..:

Definitely one of the Rottefella Riva's. I think the "Riva Z" version, but might be the edition they called the Riva II, or even the Original, they all used that same cable routing, but most versions were black. My memory isn't all that clear, but I think it was the Z that had that silver color (most were black).

Gotcha. Closest I had to a Riva was a Chili.

Yes, Riva Z. Good job! The cables were shot and I’d had this idea…

The idea is to do away with the bumper. I love the Xplore but I don’t like changing the bumper and I prefer a linear flex. Might as well see what happens. Took me 20 minutes. Besides, the hard part is the boot heel.

Innovative work John. My question would be how do you secure the heel piece to the boot? I’m kind of thinking with a new boot from Scarpa ready to drop (as discussed in the other forum) assuming it’s F1 weight, a TTS option could be a viable alternative to what you’re doing.

I’m really just messing around. Our snow is holding off and I’m bored. Always have a few little projects going on in my workshop. Also putting together a quick release system to carry a Pelican case on my dual sport moto. I could go buy one but where’s the fun in that!

You are right. The boot is the hard part but I saw something recently that sparked an idea so I thought I’d try this again.

As far as that Scarpa boot, I’ve not been following this stuff for long, just a few years, but the gurus have been waiting for this boot to drop every year for what, the past five years?! I was really interested in that Voile Transit binding then realized using that binding with my TXPro boots is like using heavy, old-style 3-pin hardwire bindings on skate skis! Or a FT62X! I mean, who would do that? ;) Economics drives innovation and at $450 for basically a tech-toe and hardwire I can be pretty innovative!
