Booze

Post by Lhartley » Thu Nov 02, 2023 9:31 pm

I ski pretty minimalist these days, not much more than what I'll take hiking. Watch, water, not much else. Unless in the alpine. But there's always a flask. Generally a cheap Chinese titanium flask with 4 Oz jagermeister. Or fireball if I'm bored of jag. Maybe bourbon. Yall packing?

I pack aquavit for winter touring, but a larger flask to share. I probably won’t touch it, unless I’m sharing. However I have no problem enjoying a beer by myself at the truck.

Took a $1 bottle of Fireball up a 14er in winter. Poured mini-shots by having people lie down on the coffee-table summit rock, open wide, friend doses a splash. Convinced others to join it, them dosing their partners. It wasn't about the ABV, more the frivolity.

Not really much of a booze-on-a-hike guy, but in camp or after skiing, sure.

Some Fireball + hot cider or Baileys + hot cocoa is nice. Had a bottle of Pumpkin Spice Kahlua once -- that made for some interesting drinks. After a long day of physical exertion, a beer is like pizza: even if it's bad, it's still pretty good.

@TallGrass
I’ll see your Pumpkin Kahlua and raise you a Denver Beer Co Hey Pumpkin Ale. Glad I had it to drown my sorrows of only being able to ski a half mile or so in rapidly melting snow.

Oh, ho, ho... NOW you've done it! The only way I see to settle this is in person! With "samples"! And "witnesses" who also ski! And food! And more "samples"!
