Will it work putting F4 glide (either paste or cork on) over a base of polar, or vice versa with polar corked on top of an ironed in glide wax? If I know I am going on almost totally flat terrain with speed the objective (skiing to the store to load a pack with groceries and beer, and maybe one at the pub) I think the little extra speed of glide would help.

I, too, have skied to the supermarket for cereal and milk.

Is the subtext here "I have Polar on my skis and I can't be bothered to clean it off when on the beer run"?

'Proper' glide wax dialled in for the conditions is always going to be slicker than Polar on said beer run, especially if said beer run is on the flats.

Putting F4 on Polar seems a bit like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters. It might damage the very fabric of time and space itself.

Get a homebrew kit then you have no worries.

I'd be surprised if polar sticks that well to glide wax. Why not define a clear kick zone (ie X cm from the heel forward) and just apply glider outside of that zone?

If you have double camber just put what you want over polar.....Jeece for cruising I usually ski what's left over from another time....If for some reason....chuckle.....it doesn't work then I will do what is right.....But would rather do nothing if the old stuff works.....Today will take some skis i got from Dostie the Noodles a ski from the past and see how they do on this consolidated deep stuff....Looks like extra blue today....early! TM

I'm inclined to agree with this sage advice. This is basically my philosophy. I think you should put F4 on your Polar and go and get some beers and then report back. A) What's the worst that could happen? B) What if it's some alchemical miracle that we all should have been doing since forever?

F4 usually lasts about fifteen minutes on my skis as far as I can make out (you may as well go down to the river and squeeze it in, right there, poison the frogs with no other stage intervening, save some time). So I can totally see Polar acting as some miracle binder-universal-glide-gripper. Please note I have literally no fucking idea whatsoever what I'm talking about in this instance.

I hot-polar-waxed a pair of my skis about a year ago. Then it got below -25c with new snow; all glide was gone and snow stuck to the whole base. I went home, found the nearest liquid glide wax, waxed the glide zones, and the next day glide was back, though still sticky grip zone. Glide lasted a Sunday skijoring(15-25km?), after that hot waxed with glide wax.

(another totally sidetracked question: how to grip wax -25 - -40c with sticky snow?)

You should totally get a beer run -optimized pair...
