This is a real important question I've been burning to get out there.

What do you carry for field repairs?

Obviously the answers may be a bit different depending on your binding.

I usually just carry zip ties, duct tape and my swiss army knife. I've yet to have a field failure so it seems like plenty for me, but if the shit really hits the fan and you break a binding, boot or ski miles out in the woods, how do you MacGyver it?

A spare binding is light, but kinda costly.

I found out last year to always carry spare ski baskets. Wife lost one and she was nearly paralyzed. We were in very deep snow and no way it was usable - any pressure on it and it sunk right down to the forest floor. I gave her mine and wound up skiing the whole way back (about 3-4 miles) with no poles.

I gotta tell you, if you lose a ski or the ability to use it in deep snow, even a mile can seem like an eternity.

I always carry a ditch kit too in the BC: Space blanket, fire starter, first aid, etc...

Still takes time.

Online shopping... easy peasy. I can sit with a beer before or after dinner go at it.

Real shopping is WORK!

Sorry about bringing back an old thread but since having to put together a Repair Kit, I'm new to this but I ordered a small roll of bailing wire, a binding buddy, a couple of ski straps, I always have duct tape just wrapped around some old plastic cards when out on long hikes, works for snowshoes, etc..

Luckily I've never needed to do any of this, but make sure you carry a posidrive (not a phillips) for you bindings (and maybe a spare binding if you are really far our).

I'm still just carrying duct tape and zip ties. But I'm usually not far enough where walking will be the end of me. Farther you go, more prepared you might want to be.
