this is great - never heard of "SIS" before but it's a problem I'd like to have!

>> This storm is a reminder about the power of Mother Nature and safe riding habits in deep snow. Conditions are currently dangerous. It will take considerable time and extreme caution and care by our team to dig out and prepare the mountain to open today. Please be aware that lifts and facilities will be delayed as our amazing patrol team conducts extensive avalanche mitigation work. Please respect closures for the safety of all. Snow Immersion Suffocation (SIS) danger will remain a threat through the weekend – ski and ride with a buddy and keep your buddy in sight at all times

Something like 20% of fatalities skiing are from falling into tree wells, and they can form fast in that kind of dump!

Worth watching the video.
The situation with a ski patroller actually accidentally falling into a tree well head first was a wake up call.
Good information.

This particular segment begins in the video at 3:30 and I agree it's probably the most worthwhile part!

sometime around 2007, I got snowed in at Squaw Valley. I was one of the last to arrive before the road closed. it snowed about 10ft. Ironically most of the upper mountain was closed while I was there because they had to clear the avalanches. you could hear the cannons going off constantly
