I found a pair of Liberos on CL but not sure if they are worth getting. I hear a lot about the garmont excursion and the scarpa t4 on this forum. Just curious if anyone knows how the liberos compare or your thoughts on them.

I used to have a pair of Libero... It was like a low cut version of the Veloce (very similar). With a relatively stiff sole, if I remember well. Kind of heavy. Excursion and T4 are more supple and lighter. I've never seen that much good reviews of the Libero. I gave em to a friend. That didn't used them much. You didn't have that feeling of leather-in-a-plastic-boot like Ex and T4. But that's subjective. If you are looking for a good compromise touring/turning go T4 or Ex.

Thanks for the reply. I will keep my eye out for a T4 or excursion and pass on the Liberos. Thanks again.

Hello... I wonder if you can chime in here. I am just getting into more downhill and got a hold of some Veloce. I thought I was getting Excursions (seller wasn't sure but it's written right on the boot??) Anyway... is there a major difference? I was looking for something in the T3/T4 area. Thanks

The Garmont Libero was the equivalent model to the Scarpa T3; the Garmont/Scott Excursion is similar to the T4; and your Garmont Veloce has the same niche as the Scarpa T2, although a bit heavier, but a very adequate boot for lift service and backcountry tele skiing. These Garmonts have not been manufactured for a while, so be sure and check the shell for damage and splits around the foot bellows.

Garmont duckbill boots fit wider than Scarpa duckbill boots, so depending on your foo one brand si normally better than the other. As Far as the Liberos’ if they are cheap enough, the might be worth a try. If they are to stiff, you could always Anrothar the belllows.

you could even cut half out try it and if still too stiff, cut out the other half.
There’s a guy on the EYT forums who cut a bellows in an AT boot, closed it with Gorilla tape and is skiing with TTS with lots of days on-

I am a bit late sorry... Veloce are much heavier than Excursion... But they have a real nice flex to them. I know one guy who have used them in the backcountry without complaining... The only drawback is the weight.
I have a pair of silver T3 and if I remember well, the Libero were similar (you are right) except they felt stiffer in the sole... From my memory...
