You say to me, "Kent, explain to me in 5 minutes what snow skiing is about." I look into your eyes and say, "Pictures, moving pictures. I will show you moving pictures of men skiing and you tell me what the sport is about."

Clip 1 (45 seconds). Steve telemarking in the Wasatch in the 1980s in knee deep power.

Clip 2 (38 seconds). Hansi in the early 1970s taking slalom gates with his athletic style.

Clip 3 (2 minutes). The Kaiser in the 1980s schussbooming down the hill.

You watch the clips and say to me, "Let me think. What is skiing about?" I say to you, "1 more clip. I've saved the best for last."

Clip 4 (93 seconds). 56:12 - 57:45 from The Telemark Movie (1987).

You watch this clip, look deeply into my eyes and say, "The answer is Man Versus Mountain." BINGO. For your astute observation you win from Kevin, Stu, and Skadi a pair of Bonnas made in the early 1970s. They are 200 cm long and 70 mm wide with Dovre 3-pin bindings.

I'd like to show to you and cantunamunch a clip of a man with blonde hair and blue eyes who looks like a young Bobbie Burns telemarking down through an abandoned gold mine to a small river in northern Nebraska in 1968. He is skiing Bonnas. 210 cm, 68 mm. Unfortunately, I cannot show it to you.

What I can do. Imagine a young Hansi Hinterseer telemarking slalom gates on Ruthie’s Run circa 1971. Telemarking, not telefaking, on Finland's finest. Jarvinens, 200 cm, 68 mm. While imagining, listen to this JD top 5.

Does this blond hair blue eyed telemark stud live near Bridger Bowl?

I find this all very intriguing.

My sources tell me that Blondie owns and operates a corn-fed-cattle ranch in Kansas. The warehouse where he reputedly stores his corn is actually a ski factory where he manufactures wood cross-country skis similar to the skis Madshus produced in the early 1960s. The brand name of his skis is Beautiful Vision. He has 3 posters (4 ft x 6 ft) hanging side by side on the north-facing wall of his warehouse. His favorite all-time bump ski is the 1975 Hexcel Sundance. Blondie's nickname is the Nebraska Tornado.
