Obviously, this is somewhat NH/VT specific but please add your own.

I have a dirty secret little love affair with rope-tows. If we had maintained our rope-tow mountains in small towns across this land things would be a little more peaceful, and kids would learn to how to ski, and board, and telemark, and all that fun great stuff... La Glisse... man... La Glisse would be available to everyone!

Around these parts here we have a few rope tows that I'm looking forward to going to this year.

Mt. Eustis in Littleton NH... https://mteustis.org/about/ A cool little place trying to get on its feet after many years of abandonment... here's hoping for a great season this winter so they can crush it!

Storrs Hill in Lebanon NH... https://www.skistorrshill.com/home.html Right in downtown Leb. Bring it! They have a ski jump program YEAH!:

They both make snow and both have pretty active youth programs. There are also a few open nights a year where anyone can go.

I've never been to either, but I plan on checking both out this year because once the kids are old enough, we'll be going regular.

I actually wish we had some more active Nordic programs. FWIW most of the suburban high schools around here do have xc race teams. Snowmaking (and lack of snow) has really pushed this kind of stuff towards dh. It's a shame, but people want consistency, especially for competition.

It's not a rope tow, but a POMA, bar-type lift. Still it's a small, town run and operated ski hill complete with lights.

This is another reason I really love Saranac Lake. It's not free like the one in Newcomb, but it's significantly better quality.

The kids and I will be visiting this one too.

Mt agamenticus in York Maine is an old/abandoned ski hill that provides good xcd terrain and mellow tree skiing. No services.

The local rope tow here is the Chatham ski hill (https://milsap.wordpress.com/regions/up ... l-chatham/) or (http://chathamskihill.blogspot.com/)

We use it every year for first turns. We hit it before they open the rope tow or do any 'grooming' which consists of a guy on a snowmobile that drags a box spring.

Wow. I skied both those places when I was a kid. I think Abenaki had (has?) XC trails too. I learned to DH ski at Moose mountain in NH (http://www.nelsap.org/nh/moosemt.html).
