Ha! I looked at your photos and thought to myself 'that looks an awful lot like the UP.' Nice shots and what a pike! The rain and warmth in the forecast is not looking good but as you pointed out, it can still turn back to winter (most likely will) and slam us with a couple feet of snow yet.
Hope we get some more snow. Whoo boy though was today warm (and windy, which is why I didn't venture into the woods.)
Headed to Moab to mountain bike, and now I'm out of action for a week. Tried to pull it back into place a couple of times....didn't realize how hard you have to pull to reset dislocations!
This is a lesser known waterfall up here. Not that it's a secret or anything, just that there are a few waterfalls everyone knows about that receive large crowds but there are many more that see almost no one.
Very bad photo but pretty impressive tree. Thought it was a red pine but the bark sorta looks like a white pine to me in the photo. Can see there was another one behind it that sadly snapped in half.
There's a section of this waterfall I couldn't get a good vantage point on so I have no photos of it.

That's runnable (well, close)! If only my finger could wrap around a paddle as well as it wraps around a whiskey glass!

You have to get it up over the "notch".

Thanks....yeah, I think it will be a few more days before I can hold a ski pole without hurting it. No bumps for a while, for sure.
I no longer ski backcountry, but it looks like the local areas are extending their seasons by a week, so I've got that going for me..."which is nice".
Stay on those White (or Blue) lines. Looks like some good backcountry skiing up in the La Sals!

dislocations can be tricky. I've dislocated both shoulders numerous times. my brother in law is a doctor and a number of years ago taught me the fool proof trick for resetting my shoulders. unfortunately I don't know the trick for fingers.

Apparently I don't either. I'm hoping not to become an expert!
