I'll also get a pair of Ottos when they are more clearly available. I only just now start seeing them listed here and there in Norway.

My hope is that the ski has enough camber underfoot to make the 200 fast enough (Gamme like) and the rocker + sidecut combination will allow for a nimble ski that will dance quick down narrow northeast trails.
I'm going to do a comprehensive data comparison between the Nansen, Otto, and Ingstad so everyone has a good idea what's going on. Unfortunately I have to wait until January? Roelant is going to have to lead the way.

Yes Martin, i ordered the 196 cm. I wanted a ski with better XC performance than my current FT and better deep snow stability. So for me longer was a no brainer. I have heard guys including Crister tout the 189 for better turning performance. While I don’t believe for one minute I ski as well as a man that skis for a living. I am willing to give up some turning performance for deep snow stability and XC performance. Deep snow stability being the most important aspect. If the ski has that deep snow stability, it will also handle the mank better as well. It’s a light ski, so there is only so much mank performance that can be expected.Nitram Tocrut wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 5:21 pmJust curious to know the size you ordered. Did you go long?
I’ll see what happens. Hopefully I made a good gamble. It will kill the resale value if I give it a bad review!

I know another old timer on this forum that ordered the Sverdrup. With him and Woods we should know a lot about the Sverdrup pretty soon!Woodserson wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 8:03 pmMy hope is that the ski has enough camber underfoot to make the 200 fast enough (Gamme like) and the rocker + sidecut combination will allow for a nimble ski that will dance quick down narrow northeast trails.

Hi Martin,Nitram Tocrut wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 5:19 pmHi Roelant,
I am curious to know where the Otto fits among the skis you already have.
Thank’s!
In addition to track skis, I now have FT62 196 (v. 2), Combat Nato 210 and Nansen waxless 205.
I'm 100 to 105 kg these days.
I really like the FT62 for short steep trips in my back yard, last winter I had reasonable success with waxing them as well. Clearly its XC performance is relatively the weakest compared to the other skis I have.
The Combat Nato are great xc skis, I think the length matches my weight very well, and I am very happy with their xc performance. However I find them less nimble than my Nansens in steep terrain, more percieved rotational inertia and stiffer camber probably account for most of this difference.
Finally the Nansens, I love the way these skis perform in general terms, they would be great one quiver skis I waxable version. I find the waxless pattern close to useless in the terrain I ski in. I certainly am heavy enough for them, perhaps being heavier I also need more grip to propel myself? Not sure about the physics. So I have been skiing them with wax in front of the pattern or with a mohair skin. Clearly a waxable Nansen is / would be a much better solution for me, as would any other ski.
The Sverdrups will replace the Nansens.
Probably either Sverdrup, Nansen or Combat would be great as a one ski solution. So I don't "Need" new Sverdrup in addition to Combat Nato. But skiing is my number one hobby in addition to running and I can afford them. So yes it is GAS.

I hope you will forgive the frankenbindings. I like heel risers sometimes.
I mounted them myself. Pins on balance point, used a Rottefella drill bit (drills just the right depth) and used some outdoor wood glue to seal the holes.
For info, these are 205cm and the rocker stops about 165cm from the rear, or 40cm from the tip.
Further info later
