SO perfect XC and XCD terrain? There is something about that picture of your house... the deciduous trees and the pines against the steel hard blue sky that really speaks to me. Northern eastern hardwood forests in rolling hills with a cold winter. Paradise

Exactly so. It's hard to imagine nicer cycling and xc skiing terrain. We now have track set trails minutes away at https://opeongonordic.com too. Having been logged for 150 years there are bush roads everywhere if you like breaking trail. Only thing is that it can be buggy at times. Indeed we name the seasons for the flies. First there are black flies, next the mosquitoes, later the deer flies and then the snow flies.
Also have a perfect sled run right in the back yard.

No I keep skins on those skis so it is more like a snowshoeing experience with a bit of a glide on steeper slopes. Otherwise I use Salomon 89 waxless on the ungroomed trails.

I’ve seen some of your old posts and wondered if you were still around. I’ve skied some of your areas, just not much around Granby. I live close to Rocky NP so skied all over the West side. It’s closed now due to the East Troublesome fire. I talked to one of the rangers a couple weeks ago. Probably won’t open until next summer. Grand Lake is still here but it was a close call. So I’m back to where I started when I gave up downhill, Fraser / Winter Park.martin2007 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 7:38 pmKrummholz,
Wow, your photos sure got my attention! Those photos show some favourite trails of mine that, unfortunately, I'm unable to ski right now. For a few years till 2019 I was spending the better part of winter in Grand County. Getting out every day either at Winter Park, Rocky Mtn. National Park, the trails behind the Granby ski hill, and in and around Fraser. Circumstances, unfortunately, have thrown a wrench or two into our spokes. No plans to leave home__ Ontario, Canada__any time soon. We hope to return to Grand County in the future, though.
Thanks for posting those shots. I see you've got a Youtube channel. I'll check it out.

Why go here?
WHEN YOU CAN GO HERE!
Went here for the first time the end of last season (green line on map), there was 3-4’ of snow packed down by snow machines. Went to scout it out some more yesterday (blue line). I can’t wait to go back with my new SB 98s when there is more snow.

Maybe me and Dee have some long lost common German or North European ancestry.
