Pictures, pictures and pictures!
Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
Love double camber, skinnies, pins....Was up in the highlands yesterday and in the deepest and no sun zone.....Telewheels and a friend had been up there on the widest skis....My thought was we could ski two telemarkers in the space between the outside of their skis...Kinda sad in a way when you see the sinew mono track of Telekid and Teleking and compare a track that is wider than shoulder width....Oh well....have been heading further out for beautiful untracked snow....kinda feel like people....use pathfinders tracks with no knowledge and wreck beautiful lines.....But even though it's a bit harder...heh.....the places they will never get to is legion...And on my un-planned twisted ski last week saw hundreds of acres of low-moderate-extreme areas that are crying for tracks....Totally gonzo and nobody will follow way out there....A blessing!!!!! Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
This is from yesterday (March 26) in the Caribou National Forest of Idaho. The National Parks are closed, but I'm still finding great snow above 8000 feet.
THAW di GRAS
Dawson City, Yukon Territory this March
Seeing as my knees are toast, I got roped into a trip to the annual festival. Dawson is like a ghost town this time of year.
^ Brrrrrr ^ Ice fishing on the Yukon -- freshwater cod ^ Street Hockey ^ Sled dog and skiloper races on the Yukon River ^ Dogs at what they love
AWESOME TIME
Many events were cancelled due to the virus.
The biggest disappointment was missing the finality Fireworks over the Yukon. And, though not a fault of the Thaw di Gras, was the Northern Lights.

We've had days of great snow. The mountains are ridiculous. This is our 'local' mountain, thirty minutes from our door until you can put your skis on.
I'm not sharing these to social media because it's mean when so many of us are really struggling, but this is the only thing keeping us sane at the moment, and I'm pretty sure you'll understand here.

KEEP IT UP. It would help if you included some ski in the picture, like that MR 48 or whatever... you know, a little leg never hurt!
You around the Arctic Circle, right? That far north?

Check out that masterful form.
(These were actually yesterday, but fuck it.)
We're in Finnmark, yes, nearly 70° north (350 km north of the arctic circle).

The chocolate is Kvikk Lunsj. It's a Norwegian institution. They print the Fjellvettreglene (the Rules of the Mountain) inside every wrapper. https://www.visitnorway.com/plan-your-t ... tain-code/
It's basically a national law punishable by exile that that you have to take Kvikk Lunsj with you when you go hiking.
Åsnes once even made a pair of Kvikk Lunsj skis! They're identical to the old Vestmarka, only in Kvikk Lunsj form: https://www.finn.no/bap/forsale/search. ... unsj%20ski
