The Ski Lite / XCD thread
Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread
Cima's skier is indeed "opening the door" and it's pretty ez to see..doin the backhand thing..and it's not an issue of facing the fall line ; it's a matter of throwing the arm backwards and rotating uphill with the upperbody..Positive pole plants are useful and that one is sometimes seen in bumps or in really bumped and rough snow..Some ppl are good at stopping the rotation and keeping the arm from passing the body and going up the hill..some are not..i would submit to you that controlling that type of pole plant and upperbody movement is certainly more difficult as slopes steepen and snow is more packed or uneven..The movement i refer to is REALLY easily seen in the vid i posted above..

Re: The Ski Lite / XCD thread
Raven, do you have any video of you skiing conditions like the Bandito video you posted? It would be nice to get a frame of reference so we can see how it's done correctly. How about you skiing on light gear in conditons like CIMA posted? This would be helpful so we can understand if you actually know what you are talking about or are just bloviating.

Seriously Dogshow?
Not a problem, you bring the cam and take a vid of me skiing when we meet up next week..
I got no problem with that aT ALL..but, what the conditions will be, no idea..
And I never said anything about "correctly" ; I just said that type of pole plant can and often does rotate the upperbody uphill ..
If you want to do the backhanded pole plant, sure fine by me..And I also said it might be a useful thing in some situations but I think if you can't control it, eventually it will control you.

Really you two should ski together. The chemistry is remarkable. I hear wedding bells... oh never mind, that's just my tinnitus.
Seriously Dong - are you spoofin' us or what? I appreciate you helping me out of my case of anti-Ron mania, but you seem to ignore any of Ron's advances or any kind of questions relating to yourself except something about Blue Mountains and Pomeroy.
You boys need to get together for a nice PBR and a ski. I'm sure that will straighten all of this out.

You get upset(butthurt) about what you think is a gay insult but then you make a joke about two guys and how their chemistry is remarkable and they might be getting married? Hypocrisy.MikeK wrote:Really you two should ski together. The chemistry is remarkable. I hear wedding bells... oh never mind, that's just my tinnitus.

Why would I divulge more personal details about my life on this forum or any other?
I bet Ron would be fun to ski with if I could keep up.

No way Dong - I'm celebrating your love for each other. Some people would kill for that right - I thought I might express it in a lighthearted way. You know because you both tele...
Plus butthurt is just hateful. This is just ironic because you two obviously don't have any chemistry.

Indeed.Dongshow wrote:I could see how that type of pole plant would be detrimental to a intermediate skier who has trouble facing the fall line consistently.
We should consider the pole plant in relation to how well we face the fall line.
