Re: The NNN/BC Truth Thread
Some Rott NNN/BC.. auto.. boots, I dunno..same as a decent skate boot, maybe not as stiff as a really good skate boot, probably not..I really would not consider the skis to be XCD in fairness..just seemed like a slightly wider XC track ski..CIMA wrote:Which configuration of ski, boots and bindings, exactly?Raventele wrote:You must trust..Like skiing NNN!CIMA wrote:Sorry, I cannot tell what gear you were on then.
Please be open.
when you send me the gear, be sure and make it a true XCD ski and a good , stiff boot!!!

Rottefella NNN-BC Manual Binding
Item# ALP702111
$99.95

Here's what advertising says about the new NNN/BC Manual Binding (they claim "tight" lateral connection; I would like to see some demonstrations) :

Description
Versatile, tough, and easy to use, the NNN-BC Manual binding from Rottefella sets a standard for Nordic skiing performance.
"Two versions; the regular has a 56mm base plate width, the Magnum has a 67mm base plate width
The Magnum will still work with skis as narrow as 52mm, but the base plate will have significant overhang
Sturdy open/close mechanism. Extremely positive during use- after closing, you are either engaged or not engaged. Unlike 3-pin boots, virtually impossible to close when partially engaged (which can damage boots)
Great forward flex for touring freedom and efficiency, while providing a tight lateral connection for downhill control"
And then the ad goes on to say:
"You May Also Be Interested In
Voile 3-Pin Cable Binding"
$94.95
The Voile 3-Pin Cable Binding provides the best of both worlds when it comes to backcountry and resort versatility.
The cable provides increased control when skiing downhill, and can be removed easily for more efficient touring.
According to Voile, the combination 3 Pin toe-piece and cable system creates the most fail-safe binding available for free heel skiing and boasts the best reliability record on the market.
Cables come one length, and must be cut to size. Cable cutter tool is recommended
Please note that heel wires (aka climbing bars)

Re: The NNN/BC Truth Thread
Who on earth could trust sayings of a movie critic who've never seen the movie on the subject?
Likewise, who on earth could trust sayings of a XCD critic who couldn't recall the names of NNN gear he tested or have never descended on it?

Re: The NNN/BC Truth Thread
I really never paid to much attention to the exact iteration of the NNN/BC I skied last year..
I pray to god there are actually some with less lateral floppiness , however..and i did not see any remarkable difference between it and any other NNN in my garage..
I descended every hill I could find!
And who listens to critics of the 3pin/cable who have never skied it and who own no pin bindings at all ? ?
Anyways, analogy failure: I have seen the movie several times..

I had skied on Scarpa T4/G3 Targa Ascent/Voile Switchback/Ski TRAB (78mm waist) before I started SNS/BC.Raventele wrote: And who listens to critics of the 3pin/cable who have never skied it and who own no pin bindings at all ? ?
By your definition, those're very XCD.
However, those are just telemark from my point of view. Totally different.

Re: The NNN/BC Truth Thread
No, I have been in line with the topic always.
Here is the "The NNN/BC Truth Thread" where the gear and skiing techniques of NNN/BC should be reviewed from various aspects.
You might have stressed the 3-pins too much.
There should have been more different viewpoints from the skiers of XC, AT and normal telemark.

Re: The NNN/BC Truth Thread
The main problem for you, as I see it, is this is a "TRUTH" thread!
