That liner knocks the weight down huh?

Knights don't care. Just call it Tele ;)

Yeah I'd think leather would be better for touring, but at some point if the boot stiff enough, it's going to be a wash, no?

Sorry, don't understand your NY accent.

I compared the 2 boots (one per foot), and the Karhus feel nicer when striding. You know, as some point, its really about the feel for me too. I agree with Teleman who, as i recall, was talking of feeling over specs on this thread. It feels so nice to tour on woodies (or at least waxables) and leather for instance, that weight doesnt really matter...
I live for the Telemark arc....The feeeeeeel.....I ski miles to get to a place where there is guaranteed snow to do the deal....TM

Haha... I sound just like people from Ontario... this part of NY might as well be part of Canada....

So what you are sayin' is they still flex better than plastic. I'd have to speculate at some point you'd get so stiff, even with leather and exo-skeletons that they'd feel the same.

I'm not much of a weight weenie with my skis. It's only when I actually start looking at the numbers do I realize I could be using A LOT heavier gear.

10-10.5 lbs total feels fine to me. I'm not going to sweat a few extra grams for the grey man ;)

Yeah, definitely another breed! :P

On the weigh issue....for XCD adventures, 10-12lb is fine to me too. Now, if you want to go light for backcountry touring and do say, 50-60 kms a day....you can go much lower than that...but they you need to better prepare for field repairs.

12 lbs has been my lightest set up for 30 years. If I want to go lighter I would use a xc ski skis. Back in the day not everyone used metal edged skis in the bc in the daks. I remember people on tele weight leather boots on bc oriented xc skis. The popular ski was a yellow Epoke of which I have a pair, never used them though.

Lots of people in the dacks are way heavier now. More like your Vector setup these days. Although more of the touring crowd still tends toward the Eon, etc...

I remember those yellow Epokes (900's? 1100's?). My dad skied those in the early 80's. I remember them having a shitload of camber.

Even if it means two weeks off after 1 day in the mountains?

I was under the impression you skied longer than 178...

Honestly, I don't want to 'slap you up too much' but this is ridiculous and poor advice.

Do you ever notice that you are the only person who declares their preferences to be THE BEST? The rest of us offer information, experience, and preference WITHOUT saying it's the BESTEST EVER!!! Can you see how your method is maybe a little irritating and condescending? See, maybe try it like this: "For my skiing goals, leathers are the best choice." See? That leaves room to imply that other people's preferences that don't match yours are just as legitimate as yours. I ski using leathers. They are fun. I also ski using plastic. They are fun too. Plus, plastic boots are waterproof, comfortable, warm, and give good performance, all of which is important to ME. So stop telling me and everyone else who doesn't belong to the KTB that we are doing it wrong, because it makes you seem closed minded and patronizing. THEN I won't try and 'slap you up too much.'
