Re: Share your Pre Season, work out routines
About five years ago I decided I needed to lose some weight, so I rode my bicycle from Galway, Ireland to Stavanger Norway which is pretty far (I did not measure it, not into metrics). Along the way I ate plenty of Irish breakfasts, pub lunches, had a few pints here and there, and maybe a tipple of Scotch while passing through Scotland Shockingly I lost exactly 6 lbs.bauerb wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 9:30 amI started running trail ultras because I heard I could eat all the waffles I wanted. In ski racing, I find it critical to eat a bacon cheeseburger with fries within 24hrs of finishing a race. for my next race I'm thinking of carrying some extra cheeseburgers in my skins pockets..if nothing else I can lob them at the skinny guys who crush me on the uphills. or if my skins ice up, I can use the bacon to slick them down.

I discovered today that after skiing my laps on the mountain, I can race the chairlift back to my car up the bunny slope. just pick a jacket color of someone riding the lift and start hammering. it only takes about 3-4 mins to get up the hill, but its a fun way to end a workout

If you're into cycling and have never seen La Course En Tête about Eddy Merckx I recommend. During races they ate baguette with brie. At dinner large plates of meat and even larger plates of mashed potato. And wine. Whole different ballgame back in the day compared to these lab-produced gel packets.
I am not a racer. I generally get enough hiking and biking in that my legs are good, and making firewood and hauling water without high tech machines that I am fit in upper body as well. After a week of skiing the right muscles have been worked enough to complement whatever muscles were already good. Also I generally follow randoskier's programme of switching from liquor to beer during the warm months.
Lastly I must second the reccomendation of bacon cheeseburger and fries following a big outing. Plus sauna is of great benefit.
