I've got that one figured out but thanks for the input Barb. My wife broke a cable on hers last weekend and the cable I had to replace it with must be a long one because at its tightest possible adjustment it is barely tight enough.

Hate to be "That Guy" and bump an old thread but I have recently gotten my hands on a couple of old beater skis with these bindings on them. My bindings do have the toe piece with grooves in them that allow for length adjustment, but even at the furthest forward groove the cable is still too long for my tiny boots/feet.
I sent a message to Rottefella as well, and according to them these use the same cable as the Cobra R4, not the Riva 3, which means only one cable size is available. (??)
Is there anything clever I can do to figure this out? I would like to get this setup working so I can try out freeheeling without investing anything just yet.

Those cables could be cut down and reswaged or new cables could be made. Might be cheaper to find another, different binding instead. Some hardware stores can even do that type of thing.
Btw, these Riva II and Z bindings were originally sold with 3 cable lengths available; long, standard, and short, and were so marked on the vinyl cable covering. You could try to find a used pair with shorter cables on Craigslist or somewhere/try calling Neptune in Boulder CO, they used to carry odd spares for these and other bindings.
