@stilltryin congratulations to your wife on both her packing skills and her ingenuity! Is that rope or bungee? You made me check to see if I had parachord in my pack.
@Roelant that looks like interesting terrain. I don’t think a Dane could ski there. As a matter of fact I am getting the idea Sverdrup might be a pretty capable turning fjellski.

@fisheater yes the second photo is facing south. There are steep runs straight down there, i manage with a combination of techniques including an occasional fall at low speed, the snow is great quality now but lots of people have taken the runs so it's quite irregular. In fact today is one of the rare days i cheated a bit, there is a single ski lift up to this point, i wanted to have more downhill runs in the limited time i had available. It was very cheap at 15 dollars equivalent for the day but i only had time for a couple of runs. The lift operator wanted to sell me a single run because he thought i would take all day getting down with my skinny Sverdrups but yes they are very capable if the snow isn't too deep.
The mountains in the distance are called the "Trollheimen" mountain range. They are popular for skiing longer trips as well. Google "Trollheimen ski" if you're curious enough.

I believe that is fairly thick parachord. She also had some thinner that she ran just from the front to back of the binding (same X pattern) which also apparently worked to the delight of a frustrated friend. (She is part of a posse -- their term -- of gals in their 60's and 70's who get out once a week all year long -- super cool.)

I'm a lucky guy.
Clarify: They don't get on skis all year long.

It’s looking good in the Chugach.
Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
I wasn't there because I am somewhere else right now, but here are some pics from this past weekend's race at my home mountain. the dude with the green pants must have broken a binding because it looks an awful lot like a telemark turn, and everyone knows that its illegal for telemark skiers to race.
