Interesting!
We dreamed of riding waves of air, water, snow, and energy for centuries. When the conditions were right, the things we needed to achieve this came into being. Every idea man has ever had up to that point about time and space were changed. And it keeps on changing whenever we dream. Bio mechanical jazz, man.

IDK. I haven’t seen anything on the boots I’ve scanned. Is it true that Rottefella supplies the Xplore soles to boot makers?
If so, this might affect future product development (faster or slower, hard to say)…

Re: Xplore vs. 3pin+cables
The topic of Xplores and cables was something I was pondering as well. It looks like the Xplore system can take some abuse but I wondered if the forward pull of a cable would stress it too much. I’m sure a cable could be cobbled up for experimenting. Hoping to get my hands on the Transnordic XP boot so that I can compare NNN-BC, 75mm, and Xplore with one manufacturers boot style. Thought I’d use the USGI’s as a cross country Guinea Pig and maybe my BC120’s for turns.

I've never skied the explore, but it shouldn't need a cable with the flexor options. From what I saw on Toms test it looks pretty active.

Re: Xplore vs. 3pin+cables
I’d be really interested in your thoughts on Xplore vs NNN BCs on USGI’s, whenever you do that test.
I’m wondering which way to go with Combat NATOs whenever they appear on my waxing table. I’d rather simplify my life with “one binding to rule them all”.

I think @lowangle al is referring to TTS:lowangle al wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 7:16 pmI think there is a system that uses tech toes with a hard wire cable and I believe it's mounted to the ski.GrimSurfer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 7:09 pmWe were talking about Xplores and cables a while back in this thread…
IDK if the plastic would do well with a cable (plastics aren’t great for handing high stress points or friction). The answer might (eventually) be an intermediate steel plate underneath to accept the cables.
Good call looping Tom into this. His ear might be pretty close to the ground on future product development.

Re: Xplore vs. 3pin+cables
It's very close to that, but not made by Voile, and the cable has it's own attachment to the ski, right behind the tech toes.
It would be nice if the explore boots fit in those tech toes though.

Re: Xplore vs. 3pin+cables
Lowangle, I tend to agree with you in regards to the Xplore most likely not requiring a cable (from what I’m be been seeing in reviews), it’s more about curiosity as to IF it delivers anything noticeable or beneficial.
I read somewhere (I think it was something Theme said) about Xplore being somewhat better to walk in than NNN-BC if a person has to boot it a bit. There’s been a few times I’ve had to walk several miles in NNN-BC…not a good time.

Re: Xplore vs. 3pin+cables
My solution with NNN BC is a pair of oversized rubber slip ons. It’s not so much about walking comfort (my Alpinas are acceptable). More about grip (when driving) or preventing things getting messed up (when crossing coarse gravel parking lots.Inspiredcapers wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 8:01 pmI read somewhere (I think it was something Theme said) about Xplore being somewhat better to walk in than NNN-BC if a person has to boot it a bit. Strange? Maybe. But when it’s -20 or colder, swapping footwear is a pain.
Works like a charm. Even cut them down to make it easier to put on in the cold. Really tough and pliable rubber… you’d blow a rotator cuff or strain back muscles before tearing them.
