Yep.......that's true enough. But someone should have explained that to Claude Nobs, who founded the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1967 and managed it right up till his demise exactly 10 years ago this month.

A fairly unspectacular fall while XC skiing resulted in him going home with a bit of a headache, which led to an operation and a coma from which he never woke up till his death less than 3 weeks after the fall.

Something similar happened to the actress Natasha Richardson (wife of Liam Neeson), who fell during a ski lesson on a beginners' slope on Mont Tremblant. She was not wearing a helmet, but the fall seemed harmless enough for her to make a joke about it. Two days later she was dead.

There should be no shame in protecting your noggin.
