The poll seems to be closed, but I ski XC only--primarily Alpina Discovery, second skis are Madshus Northcape (Voss ancestor).

Poll is open. Should be no time limit. You must have already voted if it won't let you

XCD. My go-to setup is the Epochs mounted with 3-pin cables.
First post here, and a good opportunity to introduce myself. I'm in Connecticut. Most of my skiing is local but as my skills progress I'm excited to tackle more vertical terrain. Prior to last year I would have considered myself a snowshoer. Looking for a more efficient and fun way to get around in the winter, I bought the epochs and got the skiing bug big time. Now I'm hooked and haven't looked back. This forum has been a great resource, so here's my thanks for the many valuable insights posted here. Cheers!

I voted XCD, but after following the forum for a couple weeks perhaps on this forum. would my gear would be in the light tele category? Where do S-Bound 112's,T-4's and 3-pin Hardwires belong XCD or light tele? My feelings will not be hurt, I have fun sliding on my gear. I am pretty impressed by some of the turns I have seen on really light gear, on recently posted videos.

You are looking for trouble asking TTalkers to decide that for you!fisheater wrote:I voted XCD, but after following the forum for a couple weeks perhaps on this forum. would my gear would be in the light tele category? Maybe your question will awaken the XCD Knights. Now that would be a happening!

I'm a light tele guy. went heavy for a while but I'm back. I consider my leather boots and T2s both light tele, and the more I know about xcd boots the more it is confirmed.
My favorite set up is the vector with T-2s. It's not much different for touring and the turning and stability is All mountain. When I got the vectors my style went back to more light and lively with more vertical motion like it was with leathers and old skis. The difference is better control with plastic boots.

I use XCD. I ski mostly in YNP(northwest area/Big Horn). I ski on the Eon (waxable) mounted with HD voile 3-pin bindings (no cables); I use the first generation brown, Scarpa t-3 soft plastic boots.

Quiver of 1 for XCD: Fischer S98s w/ Voile 3pin cables. Cables only in firm/heavy snow.
Boots: well-worn Asolo Snowpines for more XC, 2-buckle Crispi CXT for more XCD where I need more ankle support.
Backcountry skiing: southern Oregon Cascade volcanoes and lowlands. To avoid undue frustration w/ wild changes in snow conditions, I gave into "fishscales" years ago, BD skins when needed for extra grip on the up.
I also have a setup for light tele, older Vollkl Maujas (102-78-116) w/ Switchbacks. These don't get as much use at the S98s. Am looking to replace the skis with either Vector BCs, Fischer 125s or similar to take advantage of the scales.
