NTN / boot size

Post by hoodoo65 » Sun Mar 09, 2014 4:58 pm

Hi,

Can I use a «small» NTN binding with my size 27 Scarpa TX Pros? Rottafella says small takes up to 26.5 boots. I can get a huge deal on a small NTN binding.

Thanks, J

Nope. Need the large bindings. For Scarpa boots, 26.5 and 27 are the same shell. Need to have a 26 (Scarpa) or smaller for the small binder.

Rottefella site says 26.5 and lower: small Scarpa/Crispi or 25.5 and lower Garmont/Scott

If Scarpa 26.5 and 27 are the same shell, a small binding should work, no?

I ski in a 27 TX Comp and they require the large binding. Ski partner has a 26 TX Pro, and he is in a small binding. Get the great deal on the small binding if you want to, but it won't work with your size 27 boots.

Well, this is confusing since if a small binding is for a Scarpa 26.5 and lower, and a 26.5 and 27 share the same shell, you'd think a small would work for a 27. But, I have no personal experience with NTN.

Just looked at the website and it does contradict itself.
Boot size large:
26.5 and up Scarpa/Crispi

26.0 and up Garmont/Scott

And then:
Boot size small:
26.5 and lower Scarpa/Crispi

25.5 and lower Garmont/Scott

I'm guessing it's a translation issue or a typo. It should read Lower than 26.5 (i.e. 26 and smaller) for small bindings.
Bottom line, (and for the third time) if you have a 26.5 or larger Scarpa boot you need the large binding.

Scarpa and Garmont shell breaks are different. Garmont breaks on the half size and Scarpa on the full size.

This is why the transition size is different between small and large binding.

The 25.5 and 26 shell in Scarpa take the small. And the 26.5 and 27 take the large.

For Garmont the 25 and 25.5 take the small and the 26 and 26.5 take the large.
