That looks seriously interesting. Another one for the boot whore in me to contemplate.

Re: New ALFA boot
I've heard that both Alfa Free and Outback are receiving a complete change to a new model – the Free being plastic at least in part. Seems like it.

Re: New ALFA boot
One of those award things says Boot Of The Year, 2021, or am I missing something? Looks like a very strange contraption to me with lots of stuff that could go wrong, and/or be uncomfortable and awkward. Just my perception. I agree the old Alpina 2500 was a very good rendition of a substantial NNN BC boot.

That image he posted is of the Scarpa F1 boot, which appears to be somewhat similar to the new Alfa boot.phoenix wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 11:37 amOne of those award things says Boot Of The Year, 2021, or am I missing something? I will keep my bellowed F1/F1 Race and TTS. If it’s steeper and I need plastic why not go light, and free pivot?Nick BC wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 9:41 pmThat image he posted is of the Scarpa F1 boot, which appears to be somewhat similar to the new Alfa boot.phoenix wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 11:37 amOne of those award things says Boot Of The Year, 2021, or am I missing something? If it’s moderately steep and manky, T-4 and 75 mm. Nice snow and moderate steep 75 mm and leather.
If I didn’t already have good 75 mm gear, I would consider Xplore. However it’s much quicker to pull the cable off of the riser, and hook it to my heel, than to put the still flexor in an Xplore binding. 75 mm still wins in transition for me. I live in low vertical relief territory, so I transition frequently, Xplore doesn’t cut it.
