@mca80 Some experienced people have recommended Ascension skins in an earlier thread (citation above). If the ones available now are similar, they are good.jyw5 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 9:59 pmthis is good, woods. I 2nd that. get 2 pairs of these and call it good. if you are there the whole day, 2 pairs is excellent for steep climbs. Great, thanks. Ordered 1 pair and will trim to fit slightly narrower skis. Maybe should have ordered 2 given the good price.

What is the glide like on those nylons? I've heard that full nylons drag. I have full mohairs on my nansens, but only used them once last year. I'm going to experiment more with skinnies this year (just found a used transnordic 66). Maybe having a grippier skin is better because there is less surface area on a skinny?

More locally to us, SkiUphill in Canmore has a variety of skin material off the roll, and accessories. It's oriented towards the AT world and I've yet to shop there, but plan on getting a length of wider mohair and split it to replace the nylon x-skins on my Asnes Vikafjell's.

Good call thanks for reminding me of them. I will stop and check out what they have next time. Doesn't look like they have much for tips, but I've been very happy with Pomoca skins on my AT gear and and they have that off the rollLazyTelemarker wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 7:13 pmMore locally to us, SkiUphill in Canmore has a variety of skin material off the roll, and accessories. I just ordered some skin off the roll and some Colltex bungee race tips for a SkiMo Yo-Yo setup. Skins on, ski up, skins off and in the jacket, ski down, repeat.
