I saw a listing for the Futura Pro (one with the ratchet strap) on the Fey Bro's website last week. Stated availability was summer 2023. It kind of looks like an Alfa Vista with a plastic exoskeleton. And, it's much cheaper than any of the Alfa boots (at least compared to MSRP in North America).

My gf is interested in trying it out, as am I. We'll report back here if either one of us ends up with a pair.

The top photo looks like the Crispi Svartisen but with XP.

Thanks. Nice to finally see Crispi's Xplore models. The Futura looks like the newest Svartisen with a power-strap instead of ratchet, while the other seems like a new construction. The old Svartisen got critique for having a soft sole, but was otherwise best in test. Norwegian:

The test was updated with new price in 2022, but I think it shows the old model and the test text is unfortunately unavailable now. I wonder how supportive Svartisen is compares to Alfa Free? They are quite different in construction and MSRP, and I am not a fan of combining lacing with ratchets or straps. Nice with a new option though.

I couldn't be happier with the Svartisen. The lacing and straps work quite well together with the straps doing most of the work. I lace the foot loose with a surgeon knot at the top of the instep, lace the upper boot tighter and firmly lock in the heel with the instep strap. The top strap can be loose or tight depending on the skiing. The straps make adjusting tension super quick and easy.

Cool!
That damn "futura" better have lacing cleats to the top of the leather...
The lack of upper lacing cleats on the Svartisen is STUPID.

Unless the exoskeleton on the Svartisen is tightened-right-up (which is terrible for XC mode), the Svartisen has no support above the ankle-

Without the exoskeleton tightened-up the Svartisen has less support that many other less sophisticated BC-XC touring boots (e.g. Alaska, Guard, Stetind).

As much as I love the "idea" of the Svartisen- and by extension the "Futura"- I won't even consider it if it doesn't have a better lacing cleat system.
Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

The exo cuff on the Svarti is pretty noodly too, I thought the cuff on the old Fischer BCX6 was stiffer laterally.
Basically everyone is just resoling their NNNBC boots to Xplore. Kinda lame
Nordic by nature
