The Alaska BC is a little weird, in size 43 it has a size 44 sole.
The Alaska BC has a deliberate oversized insole.

I have confirmed this from Alpina (10 years ago).
I cannot speak for the Alaska XP-

But I have:
- 42 Alaska BC
- 43 Alaska BC
- 42 Guard BC
- 42 Svaristen BC

While the width and volume on these boots is different- the length of the last is not.
In general, a 42 is a "performance fit" for my feet- though the Guard is so wide and high-volume that it is not a performance fit.
The 43 Alaska is significantly longer inside than the 42 boots above.
Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

The Alaska XP insole is true to size, the Alaska BC is longer inside. I fact my 43 Alaska XP are pretty much the same length inside as a 42 Alfa Free.

@lilcliffy

Thanks in advance for the good nights sleep I will get now. Picking up Alaskas for me was easy. Try them on, confirm fit, buy a pair.

It was the purchase for my son in law that was kinda tough. He’s in a different city.

Nice guy. Good dad. Never asked me for anything, other than my daughter’s hand. I asked him what he thought about the Alaskas… he was very reserved. Has other priorities for his hard earned $ (like home and family). I respect that.

So I put together a package for him… Alaskas for the boots. Daughter measured his hat size, hand size, waist size (none of which I needed), followed by his feet (for the Mondo size). Used that, plus a lot of interpretive math to decide on 44s.

Just want the boots to fit outta the box, so we can go for a ski (his first XC… he’s a natural sportsman and has downhill experience). Based on what’s here, and elsewhere, I’m 90% certain 44s will, work.

That’s as good as it needs to be for an old fella these days. The only 100% days left are those watching the grandkids do something talented that surprises me. There’s three of them, so the odds are pretty good.
We dreamed of riding waves of air, water, snow, and energy for centuries. When the conditions were right, the things we needed to achieve this came into being. Every idea man has ever had up to that point about time and space were changed. And it keeps on changing whenever we dream. Bio mechanical jazz, man.
