I think I had more fun then the guy on skinny skis that made the straight track down the middle in the photo above.

The snow survived the rain last Friday and now the crust has enough dust for good skiing. You need to be close to 2000' for good coverage. With cold temps predicted it looks like we'll be good for a while.

Got to ski out my back door in Philadelphia and into this for the last two days. I can't believe it!
Hoping to get up to hickory run state park this weekend if conditions hold out

Hickory run should be good and there should be tracks to follow. Too much snow out there to be blazing your own trails.
It is supposed to rain Friday. If the surface conditions suck there you can call me for conditions further north. PM me for my number. It’s been great for almost a month now.

I’ve always been a bit envious of the U.P. skiers (Michigan Upper Peninsula) however this year I’m starting to think U.P. stands for Upper Pennsylvania!

The crust was a manageable two cm on a consolidating sugary base that supported my Voile Chargers at less than boot top in depth on T4s. There was unlimited low angle lines through the trees that were a slow motion blast on the big boards. I logged almost 5 miles and over 780' on the gps and never got more than a quarter mile from the house.

I live near https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricketts_Glen_State_Park. There is skiable snow at the park and the surrounding game lands. 2000 ft plus. Lots of remote logging roads, pipelines, some tree skiing, and snowmobile trails. It’s also a great area for mountain biking.
I’m also looking for a ski partner for this area. I’ve been away from skiing for a few years and I’m getting back into it. Much of the area around Ricketts Glen should have a ski buddy, for safety.
If you’re interested let me know.
Be safe
Tony

Re: Eastern pennsylvania xcd spots?
Hi Tony, Rickets Glen used to be my go to ski spot in the late 70s. I went up there in early January when things got a little thin in the Poconos. All of the trails I used to ski were packed out by hikers but I did find some good snow by the Hayfields and saw some logging roads that would have been good also.
Right now I can ski out my door so I'm not too motivated to take a drive, but you are welcome to come down here. I'm only about 35 minutes from Dallas. That being said, if you know of any steep logging roads or relatively open trees I could be tempted to head that way. Alan
