Voile claims that all of there skis are designed for powder. In all the time I put on my vectors there was only one incident that the ski didn't rise up like I expected it to, and I am a little heavier than the recommended weight for that ski.

It would be nice to have more wl options in that width range. I'd also be interested in a ski like that without metal edges.

One has to try skiing powder with real tips just once to see how it makes such a huge difference, both in the ascent and the descent... If Voile (and many other manufacturers) skis had decent, real, standard, normal, useful 10+ cm tips, they would be just *perfect*...

But again, paradoxically, the ridiculous low-rise tips on all Voile skis makes them quite unsuited for powder / BC use... (I can't believe they are still doing this!!!)

I wish I had known this before I ski-toured hundreds of days in powder on Voile skis...

1st generation Vectors can be gotten to tip dive, but that has more to do with their stiff camber aft of the bindings. I think. I mount them back an inch or so for tele, it helps.

A taller shovel definitely wouldn't hurt though.

I never said they were problematic, I said they were ridiculous. I have more than 400 days in the BC with my Objectives... And while they are still my #1 waxless skis for touring, there was not a single day I hadn't wish the tips were 5cm higher...

That would imply an significant increase of weight in the spec sheet. People buying skis for specs wouldn't like it, it would make competitors look better and wouldn't justify the high price tag anymore. That would also imply more weight in the front, and so a different design with a different mounting point etc. I understand the decision, both economically and marketing-wise. But from a ski-freak perspective, I wish they would have real tips...

In BC tips are good....Still Voile skis are surface riders.....Riding IN powder is a wonderful trip for me.....Without tips that could get ugly fast....TM

Forget preconceived ideas, trends, latest fashions and the price you paid for your skis... Simply take a look at this picture from my Tindan review... And try to imagine which ski tips would be faster, easier and more fun in the backcountry, both for breaking your own trail on the up and spreading powder like a king on the down...

They are both flat, uncompressed, no pressure applied...

Voile sells the Vector, Objective, and Charger lines as all arounders. If you want pow skis, buy pow skis! So, V6, V8, Drifter.

Also, Voile tests their skis in the Wasatch where powder is dry. No need for high tips in that stuff, kinda like Asnes testing their skis in Norway. Who needs fishscales in a super cold climate?

Maybe we can get their engineers to critique each others' work?
