Yeah I remember those pictures... That used to be my favorite thread on the old TTalk forum..!
I didn't buy a season pass this year... I decided I would spend my 180 days of ski in the woods this time. So instead I put my money on a pair of Alpina Alaska 75 boots. I've had plenty of boots before, Asolos, Karhus, T4's, Alicos, Excursions etc... But those are really the most comfy boots I ever had. And with the 175cm Epochs (Thanks Dickie @ NATO), it's really my favorite combination so far...!
(I could use some more snow up here to fully appreciate them... : )

I was expecting more snow, espicially after the Sutton's website announcement this monday (30cm+). Maybe it has something to do with the microclimate at the mountain

My favorite turns so far this year were on old K2 HeliStinx with NNNBC bindings, wearing leather Alpinas (purple plastic cuffs) in 12" of powder. Unfortunately, not many opportunities for those kinds of turns this winter.

Weird your conditions are so bad/thin..
It's up on the Idaho/Montana border, near
Lookout Pass..On the Bitterroot Crest which
divides the two states..Area was skiable since
Nov 15 or so this year, though the snowpack is
a bit below normal depending on exact location..
Have had some great pow the last 2 weeks ..
Backyard has over a foot of fluff ..perfect for some
home XCD!

I will be replacing my Rossi BC-X11 boots next year, I hope. They are too torsionally soft for my taste, but tour well on flatter terrain. For descents, the cables need to be used. I would rate them more tour oriented than turn oriented.
The Alpina Alaska 75mm has got my attention, but so has the Crispi Svartisen 75mm. They are both leather with waterproof liners. The Crispi Svartisen 75mm is said to be more torsionally stiff than the Rossi BC-X12 or Fischer 875.
So, it would be nice to have some feedback from Alpina Alaska or Crispi Svartisen owners.
FWIW, the Rossi BC-X11 is adequate for a Fischer Rebound Crown or Fischer S'Bound 98 ski, but only with cable bindings and in rather soft snow, at my skill level. They are a good hiking approach boot, because of the soft forward flex. They are totally waterproof, but of course sweaty due to nonbreathability.
The Alpina Alaska and Crispi Svartisen seem to stay sold out more than the Fischer BC 875 or Rossi BC-X12. All the reviews I have seen so far say the Alaska and Svartisen rate highly in comfort and function. So....I am predicting that leather makes a comeback in Tele Light boots. Aventure Nordique rates the Rossi BC-X12 as the most torsionally soft of the hybrid Tele Light boots they have tested, but possibly the most tour friendly in forward flex. When you translate their review pages, it tends to come up in "Franglais", so judge for yourself what they are saying.
