Wow this is sad. But considering I'm still riding my bike and my skis haven't seen the light in almost 8 months, this seems like a good business move from Karhu.bgregoire wrote:To hell with skis, as climate changes, it appears the bear now prefers anoraks and sneakers:

The Bear is still making and selling skis in Finland- trad Finnish skis for Finnish skiers.
I do wish they were still making skis for the NA market.
My "go-to" BC-XC skis for almost 20 years were a pair of soft-flexing double-cambered Karhus- with solid wood cores (215cm and about 70mm underfoot). I inherited them from my father- when he bought new skis. I don't even know what model they were- by the time I was old enough to care- the model details were illegible on the top sheet.
It sucks that K2 bought them out in NA- just to almost completely drop their development of the skis. The Madshus XCD line has not been updated or expanded on since the buyout- and the more XC-focused BC skis are gone!

Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

Hmm... not something I think I'd like to try.
Also, OP's link just went to a bunch of shoes. Where's the skis at?
