Re: Voilé and Kästle selling XCD in North America

The Kastle XT 84 look suspiciously like the Ingstad, which is made in the same factory. Hmmmm! I’m not entirely clear from the blurb whether the Kastle’s have a patterned base, although they have the mini skin.

Re: Review: Altai KOM 174cm

Thanks Gareth for the info. I think I’ll pass on a purchase. However, I have just bought a new pair of T4’s from Telemarkdown since my T3’s are aging out. I’m finding that at 82 my balance is not what it was, and the extra support of a plastic boot helps for XCD. I won’t win the loppet but who cares...

Re: Review: Altai KOM 174cm

It’s funny, but the gear whore in me keeps wanting to buy a pair of Koms. I know I’d love them. But then the practical gremlin on my shoulder whispers “you’ve got a pair of early 2012 Vector BC with the cuddly bear on the top sheet”. Plus I have a whole load of other skis to cover all the bases. The...

Re: S-Bound 98 Length Recommendations

I’m 125 lbs and used a 179 SB98 and it seemed fine length wise. However, I ended up selling it due to the poor performance in heavy sloppy snow we get a lot of the time in SWBC. The lack of torsional rigidity is a killer in those oversized cc skis. Anyway, I’ve given up on fast k&g (partly due to ag...

Re: Crispi Futura Pro feedback.

Forgive me if I’m missing something here. Various posts in this thread and others have talked about different XP boots having stiffer or softer soles. My understanding is that there is only one XP sole, which boot manufacturer’s then glue to their particular upper. So is it less the sole and more th...

Re: Either I am right or the sizes are wrong.

The mondo size is dictated by the length of your foot, not the shell. With toes touching the front of the boot one finger behind is a performance fit with one and a half fingers giving a more relaxed fit. With a comfortable two finger behind your shell is probably too big. Baking the liner can solve...

Re: Prototype…

Innovative work John. My question would be how do you secure the heel piece to the boot? I’m kind of thinking with a new boot from Scarpa ready to drop (as discussed in the other forum) assuming it’s F1 weight, a TTS option could be a viable alternative to what you’re doing.
