Re: Boot crampons with telemark boots

With flexible boots (like tele boots), rigid crampons are preferable if you want to front point imho. For general mountaineering get a pair of used Grivel 2F from eBay for 25 bucks, or if you want more serious climbing on ice, or dry tooling get a pair of Grivel Rambo (version 2, 3 and 4 of them are...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding System Review

They are reading your feedback... ;) If they are reading this, they (and Åsnes) should try to sponsor some teams in Skimo racing with the new Åsnes skis and the Explore system. In several of the races in Scandinavia, such as the Keb Classic here in Sweden, there are flat and low-angled sections tha...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding System Review

They are definitely exposed. But it's not as bad as it may seem. The pins are actually very short. I'll take a few pictures in my Alaska XP review... Keep in mind that this is the main idea behind the XPlore system: to have one single high-quality hiking boot that can be used for any winter activit...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding System Review

Thank you for the best review I have read in a long time.

How fragile and exposed are the pins on the boot? As a ski mountaineer I am interested in using this system and boots in alpine and mixed terrain, but the pins seemed rather exposed.

Re: Telemark Skimo racing (was: 3-pin Racing)

I also like the T4, I get good stride length with them although they could loose some weight. However I will keep racing with F1's on longer races and races with off-pist sections, either as Teletech set-up or AT set-up.

Newer T4 with intuition liner size 265 1350g, older T4 with instant fit liner approx 1500g. The F1 Race in size 260 approx 1050-1060g.

Re: Telemark Skimo racing (was: 3-pin Racing)

This season I participated in only one race, an 2 hour lap race at a resort. Raced with my Scarpa F1 and my rando race skis. To the next race season I will actually remount these skis to my original set-up with 3-pins, since I have not found any clear difference in lap times (for the shorter laps I ...

Re: Voile 3-pin and hardwire compatibility?

The opposite probably works with minor modifications, since the Switchback should be fairly equal with regard to hardwire attachment point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6C4EL4RdnY I considering to mount a 3-pin hardwire directly on the ski (without riser), and since I already have hardwire sprin...
