Re: Ski Movies
What a great thread this is! My wife is on the other couch assuming we are watching Dancing With the Stars on TV for some "us" time and I'm watching every vid in the thread :D I really liked Dickie Hall's vid - I get vertigo on everything there but Lobster Claw these days - on the gear they were on ...

Re: Just throwing this out there...
I used to race the Classic at Schweitzer when World Cup racers from Whitefish would come over in their speed suits, was even a gate judge when Schweitzer hosted the World Cup Tele race. Different perspective I guess but then I've Tele raced all around the Inland Northwest. and the Rockies. Off the ...

It's right under your nose!
..at least sometimes. I've been trying to get my wife into BC skiing for a couple years. When we met she was a committed alpine skier, as was I, and that got us together actually. After 10 years of marriage we had a kid and I switched to tele (said kid is now 21) and head out for parts unknown. Long...

Re: Just throwing this out there...
I watched one of the classic races at Thyon 2000 years ago and was blown away by it. The GS course itself was a challenging one without the jump, berm and uphill sections, but watching these athletes do that last skating uphill section was unbelievable from the standpoint of conditioning. I think ev...

Re: 78 Traverse / 88 Excursion which one? Or another?
I am quite sure the alpina BC skis are internally one of their old alpine skis with a scaled base on the bottom. They're quite stiff and heavy but great trail and corn skis imo. Ive skied mine close to death (bases and scales are real beat up)I will probably grab another pair in the longest length ...

Re: 78 Traverse / 88 Excursion which one? Or another?
StormyMonday, Are your Alpinas mounted back? I have a buddy with a pair and they seem to be mounted quite back. He likes them, but visually the mounting looks weird. Also, where are you, either I knew or I forgot or I never knew. I too carry my skis in my car to pop out at different places to ski a...

Re: 78 Traverse / 88 Excursion which one? Or another?
So that's a great question! The Outtabounds and Alpinas for me are my backcountry skis, and for me backcountry consists of the tightest tree lines I can find, partly because I love that type of turning (loved skiing SL courses when I was young) and partly because it opens up terrain most people pref...

OH! And BTW- I keep think of this and then forgetting to post it... Fisheater: Have you looked at Alpina's BC Nordic lineup? They should be suitable and they are often super cheap on sale... http://shop.alpinasportsus.com/en/category.php?product_category_id=8817 https://www.backcountry.com/nordic-b...

Re: my new/old play toys
I raced the Course SLs amd loved them till they were stolen, then I mounted Atomic ARC SLs up tele and they were good on the resort. Rossi Stratos were a go to tele ski early on and I'm sure my Rossi 3g in something under 205 would turn plenty quick. I see those Volkls cheap a lot, maybe I'll grab a...
