Re: Leather boot resort skiing
I've ridden the lifts a few times with leathers and some basic 3-pin bindings. The Antarctic are really nice leathers, I put many miles on my pair, but to me they're basically a beefy XC boot, they're much softer than the traditional Scarpa, Merrill, Andrews, Alico telemark leathers from the 90's. I...

Western US snowfall
Checking around the 'net today I see that Mammoth has officially broken its single season record - most snow since record-keeping began in 1969 - 340 inch base at the summit!!!! Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee both at 145". Alta 218" base at the summit....yippee!!! https://www.mammothmountain.com/on-...

Re: Learning to turn with Gammes
great post, fascinating stuff, I can see my self-evolved technique.....using XC stride to initiate the turn method. Really interesting to see it laid out in diagrams. You exaggerate the weighting and unweighting of an XC stride and time the unweighting with crossing your skis over the fall line. Pre...

Re: NNN-BC on Sherburne Ski Trail?
Good to see you hit the Sherby on light gear, yes I"ve done it a few times on simple 3 pin ST. There's only a couple of steep areas on Sherbourne that get bumped up to present trouble Have not checked in here all winter! Been a terrible year here locally for skiing, only a few good days. btw it look...

Re: Did not regret going XCD over splitboard or AT this year!
Splitboarding's a bit of a buzzkill for me as well. I hate to be a wise-ass but it really seems like tech designed for people that never learned how to ski. I grew up as a skier and added snowboarding later on. Not that psyched about huge skins that need to be used, or the fussing with different bin...

Re: Trail breaking ski
this is a long thread - did anyone mention Finnmark & Breidablikk from Asnes. They would be modern, super-light weight alternative to USGI. I'm glad to see Breidablikk comes in 210's now, I had to buy them in 200's a few years ago. Breidablikk would be good alternative to various Voile options for t...

Re: Light & agile tele: SB with the new transnordic leather?
Looks like the Lundhags are NOT 3-pin - should be an awesome boot, Lundhags are very high quality: https://www.lundhags.com/en/footwear/women/ski-and-skate-boots/guide-expedition-75/ *edit OK somebody already said that. Boots look gorgeous, I'm still mourning the loss of the traditional welted 75mm ...
