Re: What was your biggest help in learning telemark?

I guess that my brain reacted better to images about the whole process of skiing than written materials (and here I mean posts on this forum). Posts were helpful when I have become interested in fine detailes that...

Re: Pads?

I don't have a super low stance. I was exiting a couloir and traversing a very steep face (maybe 60 degrees) on speed, for transfer on another face. The knee was traveling through powder due to the steep slope and I was sure that I would have hit the rock spine dividing the two faces with my knee if...

Re: Pads?

I hit once the ice boulder on an steep icy slope. I turn below an ice bulder and very close to it. Somehow I hit the bulder with my knee. Result was one week no running, no skiing; only pool apnea training.

Re: Pads?

LJ, skiing powder one can find many hidden things under a smooth white blanket. Exactly! One particular area that I use to ski has a perfect powder blanket and tip up pyramid shape rocks that protruded up to a 3-4 cm under the snow surface. Usually you can say that there is something under the snow...

Re: Fat skis? Overrated... sometimes

I woun't trade my fat ones on a powder day I quote myself and take it back  It seams that my knees are sufering from to much torque with big boards. So... I will replace my Atomic Automatic 193 with Rossi Soul7 188, which are not that fat. Maybe in a few years I will ski powder on 80 mm waist ...
