Re: Hoks in the whites (NH)
Hey, Probably should have clarified - if you are skiing on trail for most mountains in the Whites, it is super important (IMO). It provides a balance point and speed control that is essential for those skinny and steep New England trails. Last week I skied Avalon by Crawford notch. Super fun, but w...

Re: Hoks in the whites (NH)
Hey - something I have experience in! If you want to try with a tiak, it is super fun when there is fresh snow. If you want to try without one, leave them at home. thanks for your reply. not fun without a tiak? I've seen videos, but don't understand how different it would be, except for leaning bac...

Re: kom vs Fischer Sbound 125 advice please
Yes @Rickg707 I agree with FE. I put a Voile 3 Pin Cable binding on my 98 and it is a great all-around backcountry ski. Heading out into unknown terrain looking for turns and some vertical this is the ski I'll grab. Pulling a toboggan into a cabin for a ski getaway? Slap a skin on it. Likey. thanks...

Hoks in the whites (NH)
Hi folks, I would love to hear from people out there who have hoks and use them in white mountains. I'm curious to know what trails you use them on. I'm looking for some good spots with enough steepness to get some momentum for turns and hopefully not too much flats to get there, since there's minim...

NNN BC binding swap?
hey folks, I have a pair of new, rottefella nnn bc auto bindings. my preference is for the manual release version (magnums, I believe). I know some prefer the autos. I'm looking to make an even swap with someone. mine are brand new but I'm willing to swap for mags that are slightly used and still in...

Re: Alpina Alaska XP failure?!
I have had similar separations with hiking boots, shoes, sneakers. I find that good, old-fashioned contact cement works great. as its name implies, it bonds on contact- to itself. In case you (or others) are unfamiliar, spread a thin, even layer on both surfaces, then, let each side dry BUT do not l...

Re: kom vs Fischer Sbound 125 advice please
I am following you here- If you are simply just looking for more "ski" than the Hok- then yes, I think that the Kom is a good choice. And- yes- a 75mm-3pin binding will allow you to switch back and forth between a modern Telemark boot and a Nordic touring boot on the same ski (though the Kom is wide...

Re: kom vs Fischer Sbound 125 advice please
Hello again @Rickg707 I think your logic is spot on. If you want to ski leather boots, and want fish scales, your best choices are Sbound 88/112 or Panorama 68/78. I think the option for an attachable kicker ski is a big deal. Just curious, what leather boot? I don't have leather boots, yet. I was ...

Re: kom vs Fischer Sbound 125 advice please
to answer some of the questions and provide more context- I think the bc 80s are ok. I bought them during covid so selection wasn't great and they're probably one size smaller than they could be. I got the hoks bc they looked like fun and I thought shorter and wider would be better than longer/thinn...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
I just recently learned of the adapter plates and was thinking to do the same. I'd love to hear what you you think after trying them. thanks My friend was skiing NNNBC, he said they worked great, really liked the uphill grip and the slower speed going down, his only problem is he realized for a ski...
