Re: Opinion: Garmont Leather Boots

One thing appears different to me; looks like the ankle cuff is a single thickness of leather. I don't remember seeing any that way. If so, I wonder if the entire boot is unlined. I think the boot is lined based on the picture below. It looks like just the very top of the tongue is a single layer. ...

The soles on old boots can fall off.
Looks like the soles are in pretty good shape to me. I suppose it’s hard to tell until I get them.

Opinion: Garmont Leather Boots

Well… it is with some trepidation that I’ve read of potential problems with my Alpina Alaska 75 boots. Hopefully, I won’t have any problems. However, I happened across some leather boots that looked like they would give the support I’m looking for on EBay, and offered $40 for them with the idea that...

Position of 75mm Binding on Ski

I am going to mount Voile 201 75mm bindings on Fischer OTX Spider 62 skis for my Alpina Alaska 75mm boots. I sent an email to Fischer to determine where the bindings should be mounted, as instructions with the Voile bindings stated I should. After about a week, Fischer stated I should put the pin-li...

Re: Help With Equipment

Hello and welcome Rochester! The Alaska is not a stiff rigid Telemark boot- it is a BC-XC touring boot. If you like touring in your Alaska 75 boot- then it is the perfect boot. and is ideally suited to the Spider 62. Who is telling you that the Alaska 75 will "overpower" the Spider 62- someone that...

The NNN-BC Alaska is a very nice boot.
Agree about the Alaska NNN-BC, but that would cost me at least $300 by the time I buy NNN-BC bindings.

Re: Help With Equipment

Thanks for the feedback! I was thinking that if necessary I could buy some different boots/bindings, but the Alaskas fit great, are comfortable and fit nicely in the Voile bindings I have. Most reviews I’ve read on NNNBC boots are mixed, bad fit, poorly made, etc., so I’m apprehensive about switchin...

Help With Equipment

Hi all! First post here, and it’s not exactly about telemarking, but I think you can provide some insight based on what I’ve been reading. I’m pushing 70, and had a mild stroke a couple years ago, so my balance isn’t what it used to be. I have had extensive experience with cross-country and alpine s...
