Re: Peltonen Metsä Step 270
Yes, althought the exact measurements vary depending on the measurements of the ski. My skis were 266cm long (measured tail to tip in a straight line through the air) so it makes that boot center 121cm from the tail. And then deduct the 3cm if you wish Then of course boot size will matter and chang...

Re: Peltonen Metsä Step 270
Theme So just for clarity on binding this 270cm ski: 270 x 0.455 = 122.85. So the center of the boot should be 122.85cm from the back of the ski, and 147.15cm from the tip - then incorporating the 3cm accommodation for the stiffer tip, results in boot center being 119.85cm from the back and 150.16c...

Re: New to Skiing - Northern Canada
Awesome, thank you for the useful info @TheSweed . It is very helpful. If I am able to ship the wooden Swedish ones to Canada I'll go for those and if unable at a decent price then I'll go for the narrower polymer Finnish ones.

@TheSweed Those look exactly like what I'm searching for. Now I just need to find a way to order a pair to northern Canada.

Re: A few toys for sale...
@Theme How did you find them going up hills? Specifically on paths too narrow to herringbone.

Re: New to Skiing - Northern Canada
Thanks again for everyone's input, I've read and researched all of your ideas thoroughly. Has anyone ever tried Swedish Tegsnässkidan? I do not even know if they ship to Canada but they seem similar to the Finnish Peltonen Metsä but with more width and traditional materials. I've attached images of ...

Re: A few toys for sale...
How do you find the Peltonen Metsa skis? I'm looking at them and undecided between skins vs fishscale. Use will be for flat powder well below freezing.

I don't know how to reply to people properly yet. lilcliffy Do you think there would be issues with the wax in the low temperatures? Montana St Alum had mentioned wax being difficult to use below -32°C

Re: New to Skiing - Northern Canada
Thank you all very much for your help! These responses have been more than I hoped. I am looking less at the Åsnes skis now and more to the Peltonen skis. There are 3 main ones I’m looking at; the 180x10cm Hunter Skin, the 270x7cm Metsä Step, or the 270x7cm Metsä Skin. The Hunter seems a bit short a...

New to Skiing - Northern Canada
I live in Northwest Territories, Canada, about 100km south of the tundra treeline. I have no experience skiing, but I snowshoe for my camping trips with a pulk - about 50km into the wilderness each way usually. It seems skis would be a lot more efficient but I am unsure what type to get. The tempera...
