Re: Alpina Discovery 68 vs Fischer Outback 68 Crown
@Roelant I had just figured it out so I took it out of the running lol bc I want it to be able to fit in semi groomed tracks. The recommended width by the ski guides in Yellowstone is 68 like the Fischer Crown

Re: Alpina Discovery 68 vs Fischer Outback 68 Crown/Skin
@wabene
Thank you! So it is a pretty good feature ey?
Do you happen to know any of the other differences between these skis aside from the skin feature?

Alpina Discovery 68 vs Fischer Outback 68 Crown
Can anyone explain the basic differences between these two skis for me? Debating between them as a noob. Is the fischer skin system much easier than putting a skin on an Alpina? Which would be easier to learn on? Thanks

Re: Noob in Yellowstone considering Alpina Discovery 68, Alpina XP, Xplore, etc?
I really really want to get the new Alpina Alaska XPs and Xplore bindings. Looks like they will fit a 68 width ski? I don't know offf-hand what the Outback "68" is underfoot- 60mm? (Fischer drives me nuts- naming skis after their max shovel width) The "68" is irrelevant with regards to mounting a b...

Re: Noob in Yellowstone considering Alpina Discovery 68, Alpina XP, Xplore, etc?
However for skiing with the Discovery 68 NNN-BC is all you need. Now I am not kicking the Discovery 68, I think it is a great ski. You will not outgrow it, but you may end up with more specific task skis and not use it as much. However it will always be a solid ski. So if you want to save a few buc...

Re: Noob in Yellowstone considering Alpina Discovery 68, Alpina XP, Xplore, etc?
The Alaska regular (not XP) runs about 1/8 size big in length for men. I’ve heard the XPs are the same. Good to know, that makes me consider buying the used 41 XPs. Ideally, though, you’d choose the skis based on how they compress (at the ski shop) when holding a 10 lb hand weight. Also good advice...

Noob in Yellowstone considering Alpina Discovery 68, Alpina XP, Xplore, etc?
Hello! I am working in Yellowstone this winter. I am going to be working here many winters and get into XC here. I have not skiied before but I absolutely know I will a lot in my future so I want to get the best. I am a tall slender female which makes choosing sizing a bit confusing. 5'9, 125lbs. It...
