When I lived in Omaha, I'd put short hex screws into the outsole of the shoe around the edges... three on each side of the forefoot with a couple on each side of the heel. Hex screws have a hexagonal head with a flat-blade screwdriver slot in the middle. I'd get the short ones from here ... 3/8 inch...
