Re: Alpina Discovery 80 sizing

With nordic skis, your weight determines the length. Too heavy for the ski, you are dragging along, too light for the ski, you will have a hard time engaging the kick zone and getting grip. You will find that different skis are different on the length to weight chart. If your weight is mostly averag...

Re: 2025 Fischer Traverse 78 made in....

Fantastic. The quality of the chinese made Fischer skis did not impress by hand feel. Great that the production in Ukraine has resumed! I was just about wanting to buy the Transnordic 59, with the new sick looking top-sheet (possibly also manufactured in Ukraine?). But then I saw that they removed ...

FS: Fischer Transnordic 66, 200cm, Voile 3-pin, Waxable, EZ Skin attachment

Selling my 200cm Transnordic 66 skis with Voile 3-pin bindings. Anti-ice tape on the bindings. These are the kind of binding you can attach cables to, but I don't have cables for sale. These are kick-waxable and have the ez-skin attachment. These skis were originally mounted with rotefella move nnn ...

Re: Leather 3-pin for SB112?

As of Oct 2024, the only 3 pin leathers available from REI or Backcountry.com is the Alpina Alaska 75 I missed one 75 mm boot when I searched backcountry.com this morning, the Fischer Transnordic https://www.backcountry.com/fischer-bcx-transnordic-75-waterproof-ski-boot-2022 They have a few sizes l...

Re: Good Price For New Old Stock Asolo Extreme Plus Boot

Factor in the cost of resoling them. Not sure how old those are, but after 20 years the glue in boots can start to fail on you. Sometimes it doesn't. Not something I want to risk in the backcountry. I would pay $100 for them, send them to Dave Page for a resole, and then you have a killer pair of bo...

Re: Leather 3-pin for SB112?

The Voile pitch for their 201 binding did remind me that their 3-pin cable binding (which I have on the SB112 and works great with the T3's) does NOT work so well with the narrower-ducked Alaska. If you ask Voile I bet they could put together the parts for a 3-pin cable binding with the 201 toe pie...

Re: Leather 3-pin for SB112?

Thanks for the comments. I have not been keeping up with the leather 3-pin offerings. It looks like the Crispi Svartisen and Bre would also hit the mark for driving a SB 112 class. I recall reading here something about Lundhags, too -- I guess I should research those all a bit -- it would be good t...

Re: Leather 3-pin for SB112?

I tried on one of the Alico boots being sold by Altai. The fit was so odd. I can't imagine someone actually fitting into one.
