I have been skiing on Glittertinds with fish scale base since late 1990s. At the start of each season I clean the entire base. I then hot wax the tips and tails with Swix Universal Glider wax, treat the fish scale section with Swix liquid glider wax. Never had much success with Maxiglide lasting for...

Oh Man, those are mighty fine looking Tenth Mountain Tours. I bought mine, same length, back in 1999, used them on a summit ski of Mt. For the type of ski situation you are talking about I have used the old T3, 2 strap root beer boots with the Madshus Epoch and it has been a comfortable combination. I can kick and glide all day and still handle downhill and crud pretty well.
