Re: Mountain/Ski Food

Your favorite Mountain food, anyone? We are spoiled for choice here in northern Italy where the Austrian Tirolian cuisine crashes into northern Italian cuisine. The semi-autonomous region of Sud Tirol (not very Italian at all, snatched in ww1) has great speck which keeps really well for multi day (...

Re: Xplore bindings on larger skis

Hi everyone, A friend of mine wanted to get himself the Xplore + Voile Objective BC kit. He’s 6ft tall for about 200lbs. Since the longest Objectives at 178cm are a bit short for the float he’d like (we can get a lot of snow up here around les monts valin) he was looking at mounting them on the Ult...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Nice lines, mon ami. Great to see you enjoying the conditions. Things started to go off here (Ottawa, ~600 km west) yesterday. The next few days will be a write-off, so get out again before the warmer air reaches you tomorrow! Thank you GrimSurfer. We had more snow today so yes I did go back and en...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

First telemark outing of the season yesterday on the Annum, NNN BC & Alaska boots. I really enjoy that light setup in ideal snow conditions.

Re: Another Kom Binding Question

All good suggestions above, it's tough to go wrong. My 162cm: Voile Traverse (3pin + cable w/ 10mm riser) 174cm: Voile Switchback X2 Happy with both! I am going to remount my 174's 2cm back from recommended, however. The tail is so wide and they are more downhill oriented, it'll help balance the sk...

Re: Xplore bindings on larger skis

This is an interesting post. Just to throw another line of thought in here (an admittedly archaic line of thought, just read Vic Bein again…) would heel locators be of any benefit here? Would they be of any benefit steering/control wise in this situation? I’ve never tried them so I don’t know if th...

Re: Xplore bindings on larger skis

to compare, my T4/ultra vector is not enough boot for firm resort conditions. I was out today on heavy but wornout Merril Ultras on my old vetor bcs with a cable binding. Skied in about 4 inches of powder and they actually skied great, so it depends on the snow. The advantage of a 75mm binding is b...

Re: Xplore bindings on larger skis

Hi Tom, That is a really informative take and great picture too. I wish we had those snow conditions here atm. I have included some comments below: Most people would probably say it would be foolish to mount the Xplore binding on the Hyper V6. But I have to say, if I needed the float of a v6 and was...

Re: Xplore bindings on larger skis

Yeah, I tend to agree as well… perhaps a longer s-bound 112 would be a better avenue to explore in this case… like a 189cm maybe? Not sure how that would turn tho. Je connais pas vot'e gang mais si vous skié le Mont des Allemands (la ou la photo a ete prise) ou bien le couloir de l’est au mont valin...
