Re: 2024 Quiver

Re: the Nordic Ice Skating Thread

Here's a few different photos for you all - attempting to wing-skate using Ermine skates and an inflatible foil. It was a blast although I'd strongly recommend a full face helmet because when you do go down it happens fast

Re: 2024 Alaska Wilderness Ski Classic -Dates Announced

@Chisana it's taken me 3 years to accumulate the gear, knowledge, and training to really feel confidant making an attempt, so we'll see but I'm definitely planning on documenting whatever happens

2024 Alaska Wilderness Ski Classic -Dates Announced

Dates for the 2023 Ski Classic have been announced - March 31-April 10 in the Brooks Range.

Also the long time organizer is stepping down so the future of the event is uncertain. I know I'll be there this year!

Maybe this person would ship them? https://denver.craigslist.org/spo/d/littleton-asnes-combat-cross-country/7571351909.html I saw those but they are the "USGI" crap skis -https://colemans.com/u-s-g-i-cross-country-downhill-skis-2-pair which retail for $3...

Re: AT/randonee race bindings on Asnes Ingstad?

If you want to be on the safe side, I believe the Combat NATO ski has internal reinforcement for binding attachment and as such is probably an even better option for AT bindings - if it's not too late. Correct me if I'm wrong. That was my top choice but I can't find them for sale anywhere, and was ...

. but to your point, I competed( and still do) in lots of forms of skiing, just not tele( mainly because I've never heard of a tele race nearby...if there was one nearby, I would have no choice but to enter).
There's weekly tele races at Snowbowl in Missoula - just sayin'

Re: AT/randonee race bindings on Asnes Ingstad?

@ jyw5 totally agree about it all being a tradeoff. For me, my goal is to maximize both speed and performance. I've been skiing 75mm since I was 5 and had a long freeheel addiction so I feel very comfortable with those techniques, but to me nothing comes close to the weight and confidence of a skimo...
