Re: How Do I Turn?
The turns I was asking about are not tele turns. As for tele, the thing is that all videos, local gurus (at least here where I live) etc. are oriented towards heavy gear and shaped, soft skis. There is little specific to light equipment, like NNNBC and XCd skis. Not to be a nudge...but you are on a...

Re: How Do I Turn?
Well, if that topic could drift in a more technical way: I always had troubles with two turns described in Barnett's "Cross Country Downhill", namely open turn and compression turn (aka Austrian power turn). Especially the latter, I never was able to reproduce it according to text description. Coul...

Re: How Do I Turn?
Go down...anything gets in your way, turn. Much easier to teach when on the snow than when on the internet. Find the local tele guru and buy them a beer for a few runs of fun.

Re: Old ski found in melting glacier in Norway
This is amazing! They found the second ski! Weird reverse camber on those skis. But probably going tip-to-tail with Elk Fat Polar. They may have lost some of their camber due to the way they were stored the past 1300 years. I wonder if they published the exact dimensions of the skis anywhere. It mi...

Re: Old ski found in melting glacier in Norway
Even ancient Norwegian ancestors knew... ... ...... .........fat skis are better! When old things become new again...kinda liked shaped skis that the snowboard industry takes credit for(nothing against snowboarders as I do it myself, but they didn't invent anything...just brought back somethi...

Re: FrankenTele???
Honestly, just skiing regular Telemark gear without the heel. I had a ton of fun playing with the idea but reality is, I am a telemark skier. If I am locking my heel down, it's for a demo, trying to teach my son something new or when snowboarding...otherwise I am only freeheel skiing. I keep thinkin...

Re: FrankenTele???
youtube : keyword "frankentele telemark binding" shouldnt be called "franken" but "next gen tele bindings" At the time, FrankenTele made the most sense to my little brain. I had a bunch of fun playing with the idea and I can almost blame Mitch for it(Mitch's Bitch for life). I never took it too ser...

Re: Old ski found in melting glacier in Norway
great article. I visited that museum in Oslo about 25 yrs ago. Oslo is awesome, as is all that part of the world. I also visited the Ski Museum (also exhibit of Admunsen's ventures) @ Holmenkollen ski jump, Nansen's Fram, and other sites. Total trip was 4 weeks that included boat trip up the coast,...

Re: Karhu pieces of history. Any interrest?
This would be a dream come true! What an honor someone will have to hold onto such amazing pieces of ski history. If someone else has not stepped-up to the plate I would love to chat. I have sold many through the years and loved every pair I have owned...game changers! Hope you are well and thanks t...
